and i want to know what you guys think. This was my first tint job ever and it was dammn hard because the lights curve. Im going to redo it and probably get lighter tint...this is limo tint thats been hangin in my basement from the 90's. any tips would be appreciated and should i just take the tint off or should i go ahead and tint the fogs too? I also did the lower grille today. Looks great! all those spots on the floor are the result of the rustproofing, my neighbours hate me right about now lol

I think it looks sharp. Why not try VHT Nite-Shades spray instead of film? http://www.cacustomcoatings.com/vhtniteshades.html

^^ spray paint is somewhat permanent, while a film tint can come right off witha heat gun...

it even says on the VHT website that once sprayed on, it can not be satisfactorily removed...

I plan on looking into doing everything, but my tint skills just arent there yet, theres creases and that was the easiest light to do. the corners alone are damn near impossible. Im gunna talk to slickroger maybe he can give me some tips. if i do it all im going to do a lighter shade. light shines through but not a safe amount lol its LIMO tint. I like my headlights though, i think im going to leave it. Id love to get clear corners but putting them in the oven....i dont like that idea. Ill see if the signals grow on me and decide if i wanna do the rest.

the spray is a bad idea....i like to be able to remove things like my grille, HID's and taillights just in case i dont like them. If teh cops pull me over for tint on my lights i can peel it off right in front of him n maybe get out of a ticket.

do a lighter tint, and the fogs to. Since you will have the fogs tinted, i recomend an HID upgrade.

recomend an HID upgrade? buddy i did my headlights and that was a ***** enough to install, there is NO space...where the hell am i supposed to place the ballasts for the foglight HID's...lol. I love the turn signal tint. if i do the fogs ill do the headlights too or else it just looks weird having headlights and no fog lights....looks not so expensive.

ill def use a lighter shade though, these are damn dark.

hey sorry i havent been on much i work nights now so i sleep all day.

anyway i found that the heat gun is the #1 weapon when installing tint film.

i think you should tint everything even the headlight with your HID's you wont notice that its even tinted at night with the lights on. I have 20% all around i have those gypsy xenon bulbs from ebay on and they look good at night.

trust me in the day the truck looks darked out at night with the lights on its a whole new vehicle.

im going to order the VHT tint spray for the tail lights, but im going to spray my stocks and see how it looks. just as you said QXXX4 tinting around the curve is a ***** and our taillights are top notch bishez. im going to try the tinit again on the altezza taillights but i wont spray it becaus ethey cost too much to mess up(film is removable).

ill take pics of night and day asap which might be awhile

yeah the tint changes the look so much im really thinking about tinting everything. Im def going with 20% tint though. limo tints a bit too dark. I used a blow dryer but my dad has a heat hun maybe its hotter n will work btr. slick did you tint your lights while they were on the truck or did you take your headlights out completely...i really dont wanna do that. lol its so time consuming. im gunna try n tint them while installed, ill take the corners, fogs, and signals out and tint em all but the headlights. they stay on vehicle and ill tint em or at least try. Their fairly flat so it might work out.

yep thats all it is! window tint. Roger did his in 20% it looks AWESOME but theres barely any light output, he drives with his highbeams and it looks normal. lol i did my turn signals in 5% limo tint (percentage means how much light goes thru 5% is darkest) you can see the turn signals no problem. its the headlights and foglights that you need a lighter shade as its dangerous enough reducing ANY light output. I got aftermarket HID's so theres alot of glare so i was thinking of doing 35% but never got around to it, maybe in the spring.

You have OEM HID's so you should be ok. I havent reserched it yet but there are other alternatives like special film and spray, but i am not sure as to if they reduce light output as much as window tint. I mean, its window tints OBJECTIVE to reduce light so that your interior stays new.

If your going to do this make sure you get a good mixture of soapy water in a spray bottle, an exacto knife, and a nice small squeegee (my tint would have came out much better if i had that, i ended up using a flexible plastic thing for bondo stuff)

Anyways, enjoy your new qx4! and let us know if you have any questions

ps...thanks for bumping my post
