i think my wastegate in my stock rb25det turbo is always stuck open or something. if u read my other thread, my boost just keeps building. i hooked the vacuum from the intercooler pipe straight to the wastegate to see if it was maybe my ebc and it still acts the same. this makes me think the wastegate isnt working properly... im still new to turbos, is this a small fix?

Sounds like my problem.. .if your boost keeps building up and not letting off, then teh wastegate is not opening at teh rated spring pressure. (7lbs.)

My car is doing teh same thing. The wastegate isn't opening fast enough creating way too much boost...

You'll need to replace the spring or the wastegate actuator...

mine has been doing the same. a quick fix i found, dissconnect the vac line to the actuator, and blow some compressed air into there. helped me last time it happened. now its only once in a while it will spike and fuel cut.

now ive got other problems. im blowing smoke...lots of it. i dont know where its comming from. i cant imagine it being from the turbo...

rings?

on my SR's last days it was blowing smoke and alittle wet oil. Replaced the turbo thinking it was it (and since t25's are so easy to replace). blah blah blah, it started to get worse, ended up to be the rings slowly going going then gone!

Hope thats not it

I had the same issue, I think it caused me to blow a seal in my turbo, is this possible? is there some type of seal in there? Its leaking oil from somewhere on the bottom of the turbo I think. I checked the gaskets on the turbo oil lines and they looked fine and were dry so they were not leaking the oil.

im keeping my fingers crossed, no doubt. but the shop i go to seems to think its just the turbo. that gives me a bit of relief.

they're different.. the rod length is what's different.. plus it might not bolt up the same way... which wouldn't be too difficult to change.
