I'be been on the hunt for an S13 SR Blacktop since the end of July, and I've yet to find a good engine being sold by a good importer for a good price (except for JHot; I'm still waiting on their next container).

I've found a guy selling a '94 Blacktop that he picked out by hand from an importer.

He's VERY detail-oriented, and has built and owned several SR's.

The only catch is that this engine is internally completely stock, even with the stock headgasket. He was running a Greddy intake manifold, bigger injectors, AEM EMS, and GT2871 turbo. At 18-19 PSI, he made 343 WHP with a conservative tune.

I've spoken to him numerous times, and I know he's very knowledgeable, but I'm worried about how much power he made.

If I do buy it, it will be converted to stock. He said he has no problem doing a compression check right in front of my face, or get it checked out by the shop who's doing the swap.

Is it worth looking into?

Id buy a motor based on its compression results in this case. Id be afraid of new rings being needed soon.

Good luck.

You won't know the condition of everything unless you run it and check everything out, or disassemble and rebuild. But if yopu do buy and convert back to stock, I'll trade you my T25 and cash for the gt2871.

I don't plan on tearing it down, but is there anything else i can do besides a compression test, leakdown test, and just running it?

The engine is still in the car, and when it's sold, it'll be removed.
