while trying to remove a siezed bolt from a cam cap, i managed to scratch it pretty deep. granted it is an unmeasureable depth but it is too deep to polish out. do you guys think that i should worry about it? it does not catch my finger while rubbing over it , but it is scratched. i am unaware of how to get a replacement so i was gonna just rock it, but any input might ease my mind.

I'm not quite sure what you are referring to as the cam "cap"? Do you mean the retainers that are held down by two bolts, one on each side of the cam shaft? If you scratched a surface that is not machined, don't worry about it. If you scratched the actual cam on the cam shaft, that's bad. If you scratched the inside of the cam retainer where it contacts the cam shaft, that's bad.

Let me guess, you were trying to push the bolt out with a screwdriver, punch, whatever and slipped. How do you know it can't be polished out? If you can't feel it with your nail it doesn't sound too deap. I've seen some sr's with some pretty bad gouges that ran fine. Take it too a machine shop and have them look at it if your still worried.
