ive been wanting to do this for a while, but couldnt figure out how. i looked into the fuse box several times on different occasions, but it seemed more complicated than my older 4th gen maxima which was a piece of cake to re-wire. this took some time, but i am happy the way it turned out. i do not have any pictures of it yet, but tomorrow i will go out and snap some. i just wanted to let you guys know about this.

and another thing, i pretty much know that i am the first to have this done, so credit should go to me if i am not mistaken...can anyone confirm. and also if anyone local (new york city/long island) wants to get their factory installed fogs rewired let me know, we can work out something.

oh btw heres the pics. check out my perfectly matched grille, and the vanity plate.

all lights off

parking light switch on, foglight switch off(inoperable)

parking lights on with foglamps

head-on angle

switch moved to auto or headlamp position

switch in auto or headlamp position w/high beams on

You should probably let people know, what you mean by rewired. Does it mean rewired to come on with the running lights? Rewired all together to work with the column switch?

so credit should go to you? hahahano offense man, but most people don't ask for credit when coming up with new ideas or ways to change things with our cars. it's just part of being a proactive member of this forum.you can have the credit though, and i'll even throw in a fresh baked cookie if you're into that.

^^(08altima35) im pretty sure ive been lurking around on this board before you, i just do alot more reading that posting, so i think your remark is void.

and another thing i wasnt asking for credit, i was asking if anyone has succesfully rewired their fogs on the 07-08 altimas before me.

Want some credit? Do a detailed DIY writeup and you can get a custom tag under your OneCrazyMax.

You also get the credit of having your details seen on the DIY section for those who need it in the future.

And if you come to the D&B meet in july, ill give you a credit there too hehehe...

hey guys, I installed my Avic D3 first, so please be sure to give me credit everytime I log on and bow down to me because I am the greatest Avic D3 installer on this forum!

And Brian, please take down my DIY, because I don't want anyone else installing their Avic D3 like I did!!!

.....lol...

sorry OneCrazy Max, but everything we do here, we post how to's for everyone to do , and we don't ask for credit or leave them guessing with a teaser. Its just part of the mutual appreciation everyone has for the forum. I know this forum is very differnt from the "other" forum, but that's just how it is.

What if I had said.. hey guys, I have these really cool Illuminated Door Sills, and I'm the only one that has ever done it (to my knowledge) in the country, and I want credit, but I'm not gonna either offer them for anyone or tell you how I did it!

Family doesn't operate that way my friend

for everyones information, i was at work, and was not able to post anything about it, so for those people that want to be idiots about the whole credit thing...grow up. i only wanted to know if anyone did it yet, and if i was the first.

and just so you know it took a while to figure out how to actually go about doing it, because its not as easily laid out like it was on my 4th gen maxima, i had to take time to actually test about 10 different wires before i found the correct one, and i still didnt find the relay for the foglights, so i ended up cutting out the fuse for the relay and hardwiring each foglight to its corresponding parking light.

by the way, i know how this forum works, very similar to my local forum that i am on. and i never said that i wasnt going to tell you guys how to do it, i said that i was going to tell you later, which is what i intend on doing. i should have a write-up probably by tonight, and at the latest, saturday night.

btw, the only problem that you will have the way i did it is that the switch for the foglights is now inoperable, meaning it doesnt control the foglights. the way i did it is when the parking lights come on, the foglights turn on and they dont rely on the headlights to be on for them to come on. so that means that even when the high beams are on the foglights are still on. that is the only problem that i have come across. to change the outcome of that, you would have to find the relay for the foglights and wire the power from the parking lights into the relay(s) for the foglights, but i dont know where the relay(s) are, so i wasnt able to do so.

i will upload some pictures later on this evening.

are you running OEM factory installed foglights, or aftermarket.

i am using the OEM factory installed option foglights. the only thing tho is that the foglight switch on the stalk is inoperable.

and yes i did answer his question, read my post right above yours and you will see it.

Nice job.

This has been done on 08 sedans that are not pre-wired for fogs. I plan on doing this on my A/C in the next 2 weeks.

but those are not the OEM/Factory installed foglamps.

i used the existing foglights that came with my car, and re-wired them...both setups are wired way differently.

oh yeah and longbeach...hell no i aint talking about lituners. i used to own a maxima, and plan on doing so in the future. the local forum that i am still on is nycmaximas.org

Mine is factory installed. You did exactly what I did as well.
