So yesterday was a nice day, i decided to take the 240 for work (deliverin pizza).. Not something i normaly do, but I wanted to enjoy one of the remaining warm days..

Anyway, my exhaust and BOV attracted the attention of a Mustang (96-98 body style) owner. He would get right up on my bumper then drop back over and over, driving like a real A$$ for the area we were in.. So i let it go & let it go until we are a few miles out side of town.. all this time he has been motioning & waving for me to pull off the main road.. so i figure.. what the heck?

We pull up onto a side road & line up, a few honestly friendly words are exchanged.. 3..2..1.. off we go.. Neck & neck through first, i pull on him through 2nd and by 3rd i have 3-4 carlengths on him.

we pulled over to talk & checkout eachothers cars. He had 5.0, I/E auto transmission which he claimed needed work.

It was awesome, I cant belive my car is faster than a 5.0!

Anyway, that was my first ever 'street race' and my first win. I still cant belive it. And anyone on here that knows me knows that I am overall against racing on the street, and you will all have to take my word that this was done on the safest of roads in my area.

Yeah, I dominated a 5.0 on the freeway...And I was 3 deep too. 5.0 mustangs are still my favorite domestic though. I've seen some sick 5.0's run 10's at mission canada.

Another one comes to our side. heheheh just kidding

That's a great story, it's those races like that where some guy in a car that everyone already knows is fast gets his *** handed to him that make it all worth it.:thumbup

Early SN95s are pretty slow... not to deflate the victory any, but they are low 15, high 14 second cars.

96-98 stangs had a 4.6 liter in them. They're not fast either but like the other guy said good race in your... lesser of cylinders car ;)

I'd like for my 240 to pull on them like that, Good kill :thumbup

Congrats on that win Joe, and yea, you are pretty against racing on the street. What road were you guys? somewhere around here, or out near work? Anyway, thats crazy, good job.

Nismo & Lbrown - yeah, i know that set of years are probably the slowest & easiest to beat in the mustang family.. But i cant help but be proud.. never thought i'd be faster than even the slowest domestics.. and it was really NO contest, next time i'll up the bar a bit.

wasn't trying to downplay your victory....but it actually does look like it! sorry! :)

I honestly wish my 240 was that fast that I could do the same :)

You should race a 1974 mustang. I got one, the biggest engine available was a 2.8 liter v6. Fun car no power (105 ponies). As far as the years did it have the horizontal tail lights? if so then it is a 94-95. Good kill.

isnt the 4.6 faster then the 5.0? least stock wise. nice run mustangs are as common as civics where im at.

Had grandma in a 67 fastback sounded built and mean, either she didnt know how to drive it or she was tryin to intimedate me. either way it worked... i just drove the limit like normal.

You certainly could kill someone racing on the street.

Thanks for the advice. Next time i'll get some friends in the car and have a few drinks first.

there you go, if you're gonna do it do it right :) drunk pizzaman!!! Soo... one question did you have the little light on top of your car when you raced him? cuz, that would be a riot I would've loved to see the dominoes or whatever light on top of a 240 smoking a mustang...no doubt a classic!!!

No, I dont have one of those lights.. altho, I can definatly see the comedy in that. I was wearing a bright red t-shirt with my shops logo on it if that helps paint the picture.

if only they were paying you drag race winnings...right?I'll bet that poonstangs driver had a great expression as you pulled away! thats the glory of it all!!! cant wait to be able to beat them again, damn KA piece of shiite, listen to those valves tap baby I got some serious power under the hood...vroom tappataptaptappatappa vroom vroom tap tap tap clunk

speaking of drag racing "on the clock" I've got a good story about it....A few kids I knew worked at a local speed shop, A man walked in to drop off his 300zx to get two new hks turbos put on....to make a long story short they finished up the install and took her out for a test drive....well they pulled up next to a supra who quickly revved his engine.light turns green and they smoked the supra and headed back to the shop....The supra then pulled up at the shop they were thinking great we got some more work, until they realized the man stepping out of the supra was the owner of the 300zx....oops.needless to say they lost thier jobs
