i was following by buddy to a place and we were having a conversation at a red light....he starts revving his engine...in neutral lol and wanted to race...being a GUY well of course.

light turns green and we both hit gas same time...i squeal the tires a little but get good traction (it was raining)

smoked him off the line so bad that he said he didnt evn wanna bother trying after the first 500m.

booyah

then i smacked a pole and now my HID's, grille, rad, and insurance are ****ed.

BOO. happy holloween

the Qxxx4 is fine knock on wood!

last year i spanked a grand am gt. either my friends are ****ty drivers and ive got balls, or the qx4 actually has some power.

fueler. if you write another thread with the term qxslow in it i will drive to cali and have sex with your"cold air intake" and clog up your engine.

lol only id say something that stupid and crazy

I took on a Ford Escape (couple times) and was happy that I could beat the V6 version of that. . only by a tad mind you, but I still crapped all over it.

lol at this thread theres no way a 3.3 R50 will beat a honda civic, even the little single cam ones, hell i bet even the hybrid civic is faster than the 3.3... 3.5 *might* put up a fight with the weakest model of honda civic out there i have a chevy astro 4.3L cargo van that will run circles around my QXslow (that ones for you qxxx4 lol) all day long

it seems like sometimes my QX4 has trouble keeping up with school buses.... but i come from a crew that seriously puts out some of the fastest street cars in all San Diego so when you get used to travelling 160 mph while outrunning the CHP about twice a month, of course the QXslow is going to seem slow! hell i cant even outrun bicycle cops on the QXslow!!

Its true... I remember driving a 3.3 and thinking that it couldn't get out of its own way it was so slow... the 3.5 is a bit better but it's still not going to win many races. Anytime I've raced the car next to me it's just a matter of stepping on it before they do... like this jerk in a Ford Fusion who was trying his best not to let me get in... oh well. It cruises nice once you get it up to speed

i mean this is a completely different class of cars... very off-road capable, comfortable, good all-around characteristics..... but acceleration is extremely lacking with the 3.3 and anyone who think otherwise is in some serious denial, or is delusional....

Ever try racing other SUV's? the 3.3 R50 is truly one of the slowest SUV's on the market. The only SUV i know of that is slower is a 1980's 4runner with large tires and 4cyl engine. Do i care? Not at all. Its comfortable as hell! And its not my race car, I have a 410hp Honda Civic for that!

well i have the 01 with the 3.5 and 5 speed and i never drove an automatic but the 5 speed definitely kept up with many cars on the road andi remember destroting a toyota sienna mini van lmao!! and my buddies 240sx i beat by like half a car and his explorer by like two cars. i also raced my buddies svt focus. he barely beat me so i think for and suv the 3.5 is powerful especially wiht a 5 speeed manual. now i wonder if u could use a 350z supercharger to get more power and just rerout the intake. i remmeber i could do continous donuts when my clutch was good and my burnout were kick ***. but from doing all that my clutch is total sh*t!!

When i had my 01 Pathfinder with the 3.5L I've had some good Honda killing memories. Beating the Civics with their buzzer mufflers was the best. I've killed a few of the smaller engine 3 series BMW with a 06 Pathfinder, even though it's only a V6 the 4.0VQ has some BALLS!. But now i can't beat S**T in my Land rovers so i just go sloooooooooowwwwww, can't keep up to anything except for the rare cyclist on the side of the road . I don't even know why they have sport buttons on Range Rover's it's D U M B.

even the pig of a 99 land rover that i went wheelin with, overtook the QX4 drag racing from a dead start, and from a rolling start. However, when we started racing through some curves, jumps, obstacles, and soft sand in the mix, the QX4 absolutely tore up the H3 and the land rover.... high speed stability and handling owns!! and baja experience definitely helps.

What kind of land rover was it? D Series, Discovery, or Range Rover? If it was a Range Rover 4.6 HSE stock for stock it would beat a qx4 with the 3.3. But the discovery with the 4.0 and around 188 Horses + extra weight, ehhhh disco must of been modded. I know my 05RR would beat it hands down, but my 00 with a No power 4.0L only has 188 horses plus a extra 1000 pounds on the qx4, so i would be shocked if it did beat a 3.3. QXXX4 parents have a 01+ Disco Series II with the newer BMW bosch system, So if you're reading this QXXX4 go drag race it and see who wins

i dunno itd be a close match. The disco feels really torquey it pulls you to the seat off the line that could just be all the weight shifting lol i think itd own the q though.

i got told by a buddy with a magnum v8 in his durango a few years ago in the disco.

It was the V8 4.0L with 188 hp and a lot of weight. Thats the aluminium block engine that tends to have overheating problems. I drove it and i thought to myself "finally a SUV thats slower than the QX4!! Man this thing is dirt slow!" and then we raced and the land rover slowly pulled ahead of the QX4 each time.

Disgusting!

lets state the fact here that i wasnt thinking my q was fast. it just surprised me taht my friend couldnt beat me off the line. he was trying and said he gave up cuz i had a car length on him after under 200ft....and we floored it at the same time. I bet if he kept trying hed blow past me.

i remember i was ooogling at a bmw x5 and the thing was crazy acceleration...i had a hard time keeping up with it and i dont even think the guy was noticing me...

well thats why you got to have the 3.5 man it changes everything. that thing just wants to keep going. it pulls in 5th gear man on the highway. i drove a xterra with the 3.3 man is it dirt slow and its lighter than the pathfinder i think. so i could imagine how slow the pathfinder would be with a 3.3. i know the for a fact the 2wd pathy wiht the 3.5 are known to seriously accerate fast like in the late 6 and early sevens. thats as fast as most v8!!. but to do that u need the 5 speed manual!

Don't bother with the video, I don't have the bandwidth to download 3-minute vids.

3.5L, 4x4, auto Pathy gets to 60 in 8 - 8.5 secs.

I don't doubt that a 2wd stick could shave a second or two off that.

I agree.. I'd still like to see the video though..I remember reading a magazine write up of the QX4 probably in 2001 saying it did 0-60 in 9.6!!! And that was 3.5. I've read many conflicting times on it, but my best guess is high 8 second range.

The only pathfinder that i think can do it in high 6's and 7 range are the 5.6L V8 versions, Or 2wd 4.0VQ version. After selling my 01, and having a brief time with a 06 4.0, there was a massive difference in power, anybody who hasn't driven one of the newer ones really needs to test drive them out just to see the power difference. But don't buy one!!! IMO i think the 3rd generation are trash, and i think the last REAL pathfinder was the 2nd gen 3.5L version/QX4 doppelganger, and best one by far XD.

ok well i got the video now i got to post hopefully tomorow. and i was reading cars.com review and the guy said he had 7.7 0-60 when he pushed it. thats one of the reason why i bought that instead of the 97 4runner i was about to get that had 160000 miles on it. well today i did it in 7 to 8 seconds and the funny thing was that there was an undercover cop right behind me. yes the automatic is slow compared to the light 5 speed manual transmission. couple month ago when my clutch was good i was able to do donuts in 2nd gear and churp in 2nd and third how? i had my foot the whole way down on the gas everytime i shifted!! iw ill post a vid of that someday when i get a new clutch too!

^^ now that i think about it, i did once have a rental murano with the VQ35 and boy that thing can rip.... automatic.... AWD..... i did some nice swifty turns at 90mph on a sandy beach road (fiesta island, san diego) and nearly jizzed in my pants

then when i got the QXslow back, i thought something was broken. In only one week i had gotten so accustomed to the VQ35 that the VG seriously felt dangerous slow.

if i do a swap, it'll be the V8 infiniti engine that tmorgan4 did, spinnin 35's on pavement

yea the R50's aren't the quickest thing on the road..but i like the get up and go power out of it even tho its very similar to my mom's old windstar..i notice that the pathfinder can pull much harder at higher speeds (100-140) and has a sportier engine note which drives my passengers nuts
