Went and picked up an S14 SR today for a pretty good price.

I was doing a bit of digging and found something. The place listed compression numbers on the engine, but not in PSI. There was no unit attached to them, but according to the FSM, it is likely to be units of bar, where 1 bar = 14.5 PSI.

Standard compression is 156 PSI, or 10.76 bar. The numbers on the engine listed 9.5 bar, or 138 PSI.

There are several factors that go into doing a compression test, though is it possible that the numbers are actually higher than this?

Should this number be of any concern?Other importers may claim higher numbers, but they could be dumping oil into the cylinders to raise the numbers a bit.

Now, this engine is under warranty, but I don't want there to be any problems.

How are my compression numbers??

I was thinking of having the test redone.

It's not so much the pressure as the variance between cylinders. Do the test again but log each hole as you go and post here.

The test was redone and the numbers came out lower. 125 PSI to be exact.

That statement makes no sense. Having no variance just means that all rings are wearing equally. Say all cylinders read 110 PSI. How is that not bad?
