I've had my car for almost a year now and I'm ready to start "doing stuff" to it lol. HOWEVER, I don't really know all that much, and my boyfriend is more of a dodge truck kind of guy so he's not much help. I want to start by putting some bigger rims on... what's a good size? I want something a little "beefier" than the stock wheel that's on there now but I don't want something that looks too big and obnoxious. My car is slate gray so I'm also torn between black rims and chrome rims. Suggestions anyone?! :D

First, welcome to the forums!

Check out this thread for TONS of useful information.

Personally, I love 19s on the coupe. 20s are a bit too big IMO. But, the rubber for 19s tends to be a bit more expensive. And, on that color I prefer alloy rims. But again, that's just me. What other mods are you thinking of?

Edit: Forgot to mention, you can get some ideas here.

I'm also a big fan of gun metal rims on the coupe and five spokes look the best (again, all my personal opinion).

Hi there, welcome to Nico, I would agree with Bonker, do 19's I've had 20 and they are too much for the coupe. I have G37S' and they are great! for an upscale OEM look.

I'd say go for 20s. They're not obnoxiously large for the coupe either. I think they look the best on the coupe. But if you want a little more comfort and a somewhat beefier look, go with the 19s.

I went with 20s and the ride is fine with me, but if you're not comfortable with a little bounce, stick to 18s and 19s.

As for colors, with a slate grey car, i'd probably lean towards a polished wheel or a black with a polished lip. I think chrome and a big wheel on the coupe would be a bit much. Some people like it, but i was never a fan of chrome wheels, i think they're too gaudy for a coupe. They belong on low-riders and SUVs...but that's just my opinion...

Sorry... Wasn't aware that I was in the wrong section...

But thank you for all the input everyone... I will most likely be going with black.. still just can't decide between 18's and 19's!

Not sure yet what other mod's I want to go with AppleBonker... when I bought it, it already had an aftermarket grill... and I have my tint done. Thought about adding a spoiler but I'm not sure which one I like just yet. I hate making big expensive decisions not knowing whether I'm going to love it or not lol

There is a suspension/wheels section, but since this was also an introduction, I don't really think you are in the wrong spot. That's just LBC's copy/paste welcome post. Every newbie gets that, so don't mind it.

Personally, I don't think there's a spoiler out there that really fits the lines of our car. Most will suggest lowering, so you might want to think about that. If you're up for the drive, there is a big meet in PA that draws a lot of NICO members in a little over a month. You could see a whole bunch of coupes in one spot there and maybe get some ideas.

Are you talking about the meet at Carlisle? I've been to a Mopar show before there with my boyfriend... I wish I could make it, but that's his birthday weekend so I couldn't bail on that. Any other meets throughout the summer? Anyone ever come to Ocean City, Md?

I dunno. I'm from the midwest, so Carlisle will be my first time meeting the east coast folks. There are always meets going on. If you check in every so often you'll hear about them. Maybe some people from out that way can give you a heads up.

Oh, and May birthdays rule.

18's in black, then drop your coupe. stay away from the chrome, looks tacky on a dark slate coupe

My grill is chrome though... you don't think that will make a difference? I might not do all black or all chrome... I might do a chrome with black detail? I don't know I'm just not a fan of the all black rims, I feel like that looks tackier than the all chrome rims. I haven't seen the gunmetal though... do you have a link?

gunmetal ftw on a dark slate coupe...either 18 or 19 inch will look the best WITH a drop...so be prepared to spend another couple hundred to make them look the best...welcome to NICO!!!

sounds like fate to me baby, there are plenty of eligible bachelors that are going to be attending carlisle that have much finer tastes than dodge trucks. odds are he would rather be with his buddies getting piss-drunk in an orchard somewhere on his b-day anyways.

Mine are Matte Charcoal but they're pretty similar to what gun metal is;

either alloy or gunmetal if u wanna be noticeable but not stand out too much. Rims + lower springs = From there, u can decide whether to mod it further. Keep us updated.

Haha, I just noticed this. Don't worry, it's not creepy at all.

Ranga, love the look.

Big Rig just stated the obvious.... But really we are not all that creepy, plus if I remember correctly big_rig is in Cali.

Carsile is going to be sick you should try and make it. Im dragging my girl and one of her friends

We have people coming from Ark. Tex. Flo. N & S Car. all over the place it going to be one weekendlong party.

But you def need to get Eibach pro Kit (lowering spring) 18-19rims prefferably 19's... I have 18 and hate them. And you def want black, although GlunMetal is pretty nice to. Also tint Those are your basics

Come on guys.

I know you're better than this.

When considering wheels width and offset is more important than color and diameter.

You mentioned "beefier." This, to me, implies flush fitment and lots of rubber. Therefore it is regardless of diameter.

Just going by a price standpoint, I would recommend 18in diameter with 8.5 to 9.5 width. I wouldn't stray too far from offset of +30.

Is this the look you're going for?http://forums.altimas.org/zerothread/480966-18x95s

LOL Ya'll are funny. Don't worry I didn't find it creepy, I have a sense of humor. And you can't hate on dodge rams because I do think they're sexy trucks.

...Alphapig, What are your rims?

Also... to anyone who has debadged their car... what all does that entail?

Here are the step by step instructions: 1) Take any dental floss and loop it over 4 times so you basically have 4 strands of dental floss inbetween your fingers2) use a hairdryer to heat up a letter of the badge or the whole badge itself if you work fast3) Go under the silver part of the letter and use a "saw" like motion4) Remove tape after silver part is off5) Clean with water and soap6) Use something to take off the stickiness if there is any (I used goo gone - worked great) - Remember to wash it off 7) Wax area (I used Ice liquid wax)
