So after my QX4 was bought by my dad back in feb '06 with 58,000 kms..then given to me in oct '07 when he bought his frontier (woohoo!) i never really knew much about the previous owner aside from it being a female and that it was a "company" vehicle under "Q-ponz Inc." in Scarborough.

Weirdest thing ever, i was installing my replacement bulbs for my HID's today and my neighbour comes by to check out my wheels, dad being the proud father of a car-lover son, talks about my pride and joy and I hear him saying how the previous owner was a lady who took the kids to school and back in this Q and that was it. She also leased the vehicle TWICE, and then it was auctioned off by nissan finance to the dealer we bought it from.

neat-o!

any of you guys with preowned R50's have any history? Mine was a soccer-mom-mobile but in my head it was an ex-mob vehicle. Still is come to think of it. Im considering having my Zippo have a "Qxxx4" logo put on it.

i have problems.

Mine was owned by a grandpa since new, only used it to get around town and do grandpa things. He kept it well maintained, up to date on all services. Gotta love grandpas. It was auctioned to the dealership I bought it from. Only on the lot for two months.

Mine was a company vehicle in Tejas and they apparently beat the s*** out of it considering all the issues I've had.

Mine was a lease return then auctioned off. It sat on the lot for 6 months ten I came along and and picked it up. I purposely looked for a car that was costing the dealership from sitting there for a long period of time this way I could get the best deal possible. It's easy when all QX4's come stock pimped out.

I got mine from the repodepo so it has to be a similar story to Billy's, and it was just like he said i got a good deal cause it was there for a while and they wanted it out.

mine was registered as a fleet vehicle.... they gave it up at 50k miles and i become the second owner....

i found several mexican pesos under the seats and in the cracks, a mexican business card of some sort, and the drivers side door lock was totally busted from an attempted break-in.

I got my '01 QX4 in October 2006 from Infiniti of Lisle with only 29,000 on the clock. It was owned by a woman in Highland Park, IL (big money community) and apparently only used during the winter, which would explain why it was driven on average 6k miles per year. After paying it off, she traded it in on a new QX56. Being that the truck had such low mileage and it was like new inside and out, they kept it on the lot.

The truck has been a dream and I couldn't even really consider trading it in for anything. I like it more the longer I have it. I wish they still made a QX on the Pathfinder platform.

My first QX4, a 98' didn't have any headrests but the dealer paid me with a check to get dealer priced headrests. My first was from New Jersey, one day I stumbled across a 8 gauge monster cable under the rear seats that was cut before entering the engine bay and some other misc wires under the seats that had been cut. It also had a broken clip in the stereo bezel. I assumed that someone at one time had TV's in the headrests and a box in the back! This was like 1999 when a headrest monitor was probably $800 each! I think it had been into although there were no visible signs on the exterior.

I got new headrests from eBay, pocked the rest!

I know nothing about my 2001, I have an I30 as well it was owned by a couple since new. A month or two after having it I started smelling smoke. I had asked that "arse" if he smoked in it, but no he just had it detailed and sold it to me. 2 years later no smell.

The only logical explanation is.... ghosts.

Yep lying ghosts.

I mean it wasn't that bad but still, just an out front lie. He did have a good detail job done, they got the soot out of the vents and everything visible. Likely a smokers detail job of some type so it was hidden until the smoke smell took back over.

Bought my 98 Pathy from a independent dealer in SanDeezy about a year ago. Was cheaper because it is a stick. Looked up the smog history, has been in SD all its life, and was traded in on a new Nissan. That is all I know. Other than they had a sh*tty paint job done on the hood. The rest is all factory.

Am I the only original owner here?

Well, I guess I am technically not the original owner... it was leased new for my mother and we picked it up on June 30, 2000 brand a** new. I ordered the car for her, talked her into that color combination, and told the dealer to make sure it came with Michelin LTX tires and not Bridgestones (in Toronto at the time they came in randomly with either).

While it was technically her car, my name adorned the personalized plate (still does) and I have put much more mileage on it than she is. She still drives it occasionally (much to my chagrin) but I can't hog all the cars to myself!

Or can I....

The guy I bought my Pathy from was an RCMP officer who was recently transferred from a small Alberta town to Edmonton. He just bought a brand new Mustang, and had to choose between selling his Jeep Grand Cherokee or his Pathfinder. He'd had the Jeep for 5+ years but only had the Pathy a year or so; both treated him well but he kept the Jeep. He said he'd got the Pathy in an auction.

Sure enough, when I checked out the Pathy's history online it was a leased vehicle for three years in Quebec, then was sold in Alberta.

The cop had a nice house in a suburb of Edmonton. Met up with him three times before handing over the cheque, him and his family were nothing but nice. Can't judge a book by it's cover, of course, but there was no evidence to the contrary that it would be a bad sale. And it hasn't been.

If you want to know about a bad sale, you just have to look at the car my dad bought. I was with him when we met the guy, he was creepy as hell and his story about the car had tons of contradictions. I told my dad not to buy it, he did anyways, and after the first month of driving he's had nothing but trouble. Can't say I didn't warn him...

Call me stupid...but I am the original owner from new. Bought in mid '04 with $3250 off (~10%) sticker. Some could say we could have got a better deal, but the PF was about $3.5k less (after discount) than the '04 Touaregs. Looking back on it all, glad we didn't bite on the V6 T'reg. Ironically, the dealer we bought from sold both VWs and Nissans.

Don't get me wrong, the T'reg was a nice rig, I just wasn't comfortable with its potential hit or miss reliability and the trouble it would be if it were to be less than reliable.

As far as '05 PFs, they were just around the corner, but we weren't interested in the larger body, or the fact it was the 1st run of a new model. Plus, the '05s weren't going to be discounted. We didn't need the 3rd row either and still don't.

so, 5 years and 27k miles later...yes, only 27k miles, the PF has been everything we have needed it to be.

Bought mine from a rich lady who had spoiled kids, she let them SPRAY PAINT it in school colors for graduation (yellow/blue). After graduation they used GASOLINE to try and get it off!

WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE:

WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE WHEN I BOUGHT IT:

Long story short I only paid $500 for a 2001 QX4 with 155K, its broke now though needs new ignition coils

Stupid f*ckin rich kids.

Anyway, I bought my '97 R50 back in June of '00 & became the 2nd owner. The original owner was a sheriff in KY & only drove it to & from work, so it only had like 22-23K miles on it.

My ex-girlfriend's grandfather bought my Pathfinder new from the local Nissan dealership because his wife said his Xterra rode too rough. He drove it for 4 years, wrecked the front end and after getting it fixed decided to get a brand new one. Sold it to me for $7k with only 34k on the clock. Just about every option available. I've loved it ever since.

Un-flippin-believable...

There was nothing good about that idea period. I could see covering the car in vinyl or maybe just the hood, but to go to town with rattle cans is just stupid.

Then to think they could return the car back to its original color by removing the paint with gasoline is another WTF mate moment.

Money or no money, you just don't do that to a car you intend to keep. The mom should have made her kids drive around in that after graduation..in fact, all through college.

I've been toying with the idea of going with a couple of coats of flat black Rustoleum on whats left of the stock paint (half of it is covered in Herculiner already). Rattlecan's not always a bad idea, it was just a really really really bad idea here... stupid f*ckin rich kids.
