UPDATE: I cut and pasted my buddy's post from another forum. They tore into it yesterday. I finally have a clean dash and panels that all match! This car, save for the hatch rust, is actually cleaner than my old car. So I am moving up! My car gets there next week, and hopefully in a few weeks, I'll be showing off my new ride.
"This is the first actual day of work on the car since we towed it to the garage. So far everything is going very smoothly with little to no problems. There was some strong signs that this car had been sitting for awhile in a brush type area, but its nothing that a good cleaning won't fix (and maybe a bug bomb!!!!). The body itself is very straight and clean except for the driver side door (which we will be replacing). The spoiler holes on the hatch were filled with a chalking type sealant to prevent water seepage and rust. There appears to only be surface rust present, as the underside is rust free. The only other problem that we have noticed is the driver side fender was previously taken off or replaced, and some of the bolt holes are now stripped with self-taping screws to replace them. One bolt hole in particular still contained a snapped bolt and a self-taping screw. The interior is typical s13 with tapped up seats and matted carpet with some weathered spots under the driver side foot well. The driver side door panel has a rip that was tapped up, but all other panels are in good condition. Started with the hood, bumper, fender, and door. Here is the bolt hole I was talking about. Bam suka Here's some interior shots prior to removal. The engine bay. Dirty, but will change with a good cleaning. Found some friends that camped out to watch up work.
The guy in the following pics is Cisco, the guy giving me the car!
Here's the "grommet" for the fog light harness (which was removed but saved, was ok by the way) and where it was located.
The engine bay...As you can see, Cisco is very serious about getting this done... ...very serious...... and as it sits. Some miscellaneous crap was removed, as well as the wiring harness, radiator and some stuff needed to remove the engine/transmission. All that's needed here is the power steering, a/c, heater hoses and the lower harness to be removed/disconnected and then the KA is ready to be removed and the engine bay will be cleaned. Bucket-o-crap with saved parts, saved hardware, and wiring harnesses.
Next main tasks on the list is the engine/trans to come out, and the suspension/brakes to come off, but we will doing that when Rick's car is here so the car will not be stranded in the side of the garage. Thanks for looking"
So there it sits. I'm super excited! I for sure prefer coupes, but if I have to go hatch, at least it is still chuki, still white, and all Nissan.
