and with that ill need/ want a larger exhaust setup. this got me thinking strightpipes, but that got me think inspection. so i came up with a neat idea.
i want to run aftermarket headers to my stock exhaust with a cat and everything still there, but i want to fabricate a valve system that will enable me to run a small straight pipe off my headers before the exhaust with the valve enabling me to open and close the straight pipe.
so i could be cruising with my stock exhaust, "flip a switch" and close off the stock pipe and open up the straight pipe. is there any kits out there for this or am i getting into a big fabricating mess?
i know plenty of talented welders so i dont need to be able to myself.

If you have a turbo, you don't have a "header". If you have an inline engine, you dont have "headers."
Your idea is not a new one and it would solve the sound problem but it would be next to impossible to clear a visual inspection. You will obviously have a dump in the system, that regardless of whether it's kicked on will render the system illegal to most inspectors. Just do what a lot of people do and have an inspection exhaust and a regular one.
