i have 0 compression in all 4 cylinders in my 92 vert, ka24de but im stumpped

i highly doubt i blew all 4 rings....

my timing seems to be correct at tdc but i could be wrong

the only three things i can think of are blown rings, bent valves, or complete bs timing

any ideas guys? its a 120,xxx motor... auto... and a dual cam, i mean, what couldve possibly gone wrong with it?

thanks,Garrett

Take off the valve cover and turn the crank. As you turn the crank, notice if all the cam lobes are touching the valves. If they're not, bent valves. Make sure @ #1TDC, it's on the compression stroke. Take off the radiator cap as you turn it over. If you see bubbles, HG is bad.

It could also be your gauge. Try it on a different car.

are you trying to check compression by manually turning crank or using the ignition to turn it. my dad was a little off one time and tried to check compression by manually rotating motor... yeahhhh didnt work out so well all read a zero. its very unlikely that all read zero unless u have major hg issues.. make sure your gauge is reading right and use power to test the compression. ur numbers should be less then 5% off eachother. not sure what the specs are on it...how did this happen to begin with?- whats the history on it?

could only be 1 of 3 things....timings off..if this is the case and you tryed to start the car..then you bent the valves as well...#2 ..bent valves or ovaled out valve seats...#3....ring and piston issue..

with this type of problem..there is only one real option to rule out or fix any damage that may have occured..a full teardown of the motor....you may have to redo the head and or replace pistons...when you impact the valves with the pistons..something has to give...in a stock motor..i would be both piston and valves and possibly even impacting the piston with enough force to destroy the ring lands on the piston its self....take this good advice..and rebuild it..just to be on the safe side...good luck..what ever you decide to do.

not always true. i (being a noob) put together a ka24de and i got the thing torn apart and the cams i got were both exhaust cams. i didnt know that. i put both the cams in just like the book said. no compression. well what was happening is the valves were opening the same on the intake and exhaust so it wouldnt build compression.

op i doubt its the hg or bent valves. but you should give some history and it would help a lot.
