So I bought a helmet. With any luck, I'll be autocrossing in a couple weeks, as long as the event isn't cancelled.

So I bought a gloss black helmet, and it's ugly. I sanded it out with 600 grit, primered and wetsanded with 1000 grit, repeated that process a gain, painted it flat black, wetsanded, then laid down a coat of House of Kolors Metallic Lime Gold with metal flake (drying now). I will be coating that with A transparent Kandy Emerald Green.

So When it's all said and done, I will lay out a graphic on the helmet, sand off everything that isn't covered with vinyl or tape, and respray that flat black. Then the peel off the vinyl or tape, and my graphics will be the HOK colors.

So the only graphic that I can think of, is the rising sun. One of these two. I would put it across the back, where the Snell sticker goes. I may also leave the jaw line in the HOK colors too.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to something better/cooler? Remember, the graphic can't be detailed too much, since it will be only the one HOK color.

Rising sun ftw!!!! Interesting bit of history here. In WW2 there was a squadren of p51's in the pacific that had what looked like a backwards rising sun emblem on their tails. People often thought they were stolen american planes, but in reality they were a squadren known as the "Sun Downers" b/c their specialty was taking out the japanese Zero's That squadren is around till this day.

Rising sun FTW.

Bit of advice. Keep the Snell rated sticker on the helmet. Some tracks and clubs can be anal about having an in date helmet.

I would put the infiniti silhouette on it. Rising sun is cool too. You can get it probably anywhere on the net since it is in almost every commercial they have.

I've always loved the Croatian soccer jerseys, partially because I'm Croatian, but still I think they're cool because they're different.

The sticker was carefully removed and placed on a sticker backing so it can be re-applied, and look like it came from the factory that way.

Unfortunately, I don't have any NICO stickers left. I would like to put one on there, but guess we'll see what I can cun into vinyl or tape with a razor blade.

The croatian jersey would look awesome, but I don't have the patience to cut out that many perfect squares, and place them on the helmet with the same degree of prefection.

If I followed your plan correctly, you wouldn't have cut out squares, just create a grid of tape which wouldn't be too too hard.

Croation jersey would be good but it is RPITA. If you only do a section it is ok. If you do all it would be. One of the hardest possible. Put squares on the shape of the helmet(or ball). You have to deform the squares. Otherwise it would not look squares. Just picture it. I could be mistaken. It would look nice with a section on each side.Wouldn't be the first time. Beenor if you need a set of sticker I can send it back. Remember I asked 2 sets. I did not trust myself.

Sorry Bean,

I'm too lazy to save, PS, upload, then post them on here. You'll have to use your imagination with monochrome.

There will be a detailed picture filled article coming. I'm in the middle of the last "dust coats" of the lime gold. One left to go, then it has to bake in the sun/car/bathroom under the heat lamp for a couple of days. Then the kandy color gets sprayed.
