I picked up my diff a while ago from the shop that did the fabrication for my LS swap. They sold me R200 with a clutch type LSD with a 3.698 ring gear from a Z32. Well when the LSD went out I decided to go with a welded diff, but I wanted to keep that ring gear ratio.
I pulled the guts from the rear and from an open end I had laying around. I swapped the ring gear, had it welded, and took it to Northen Liberties in Philly to have them press it in a shim it up and press new seal in.
When the front yoke and pinion was removed. It was noticed that the thing was massive. jdmwill had an R200 laying around so he opened it up and gutted it to compare. The input pinion was much larger and 13 teeth not 12 (to match the Z32 turbo ring gear). We then noticed that the case was different. It was actually a J30 case where the front extra inch for the speed sensor was removed to be the same length of a standard R200. So all said and done its a J30 housing shortened, with a Z32 turbo non abs input pinion and ring gear, with a welded R200 opened end or clutch type pressed inside.
Knowing this now a beefier lower ratio diff can be build from spare parts. Something some of the RB or SR guys may benefit from. The input pinion is just massive, and it is possible to run the Z32 turbo 3.69 ratio without having to modify the subframe to fit a R230. Now we also tried putting the Z32 input pinion into the S13 R200 case, but it would not fit, it only seems to work on thr R230V and R200V.
