Alright,

I have a feeling that I'm going to get flamed hardcore, but oh well..

One of the last turns I make before I get to my office is pretty wide open and remote (so no worries of hitting stuff). This morning, I was feeling particularly saucy so I downshift into 2nd, turn wheel left and quickly back right (feint) and stab the gas. I did a decent slide, with not a whole lot of angle, but I was happy with my first effort. The best part was hearing the Blitz Nur-Spec catback at high revs..

Anyway, same turn on the way back from lunch today, I tried the same thing, but this time, mondo oversteer - she plowed like a dumptruck. I adjusted my steering to compensate, and she came around a bit, but man talk about ugly. I think I didn't time my throttle stab and steering input correctly, and that caused her to push. Nevermind the stock suspension and open diff right? Although, I have kyb agx's and eibach pro-kit springs to put in this weekend.

I think I'll stick to scouted out parking lots until I get more skills (girls like guys with skills) wouldn't want to funk up and do some damage.

Well, that's the story of my first drifting experience(s) . flame away.

heh, sounds like my first time ^_^ hope you like the experience, you just got devirginized lol. I don't see reason to flame? anyway, keep it up, find/jack a cone and practice im still on open diff no money to buy a vlsd so yea =\ i'm on the same road as you .

tip: you should do ebrake or power overs first i think, helps you practice counter steering... i mean yea people say its not drifting? but how can you do good drifts if you don't have steering/counter steering down? so yea ebrake and poweroevers for the steering work ;D

ha, yeah with all the rain we've had lately, I've definitely been doing power over drifting whether I was trying to or not. I agree that it helps develop the feel for countersteering input, but dry pavement is a totally different beast..

Yeah, my drift cherry has been popped. It's addicting, because now when I come to work, I want to drift that corner every time. I have a feeling I'm going to be visiting the used tire king a lot now..

It's a start. Wait until it rains and find a empty parking lot so you won't ruin your tires and/or hit stuff.

About a month ago we had road construction on a road that was 3miles long. 2cars+4teenage boys=3miles of cones tipped over -15 cones in each car.

"so I decided to go for it"those sound like someone's famous last words...

------

"borrowing" things is FUN! I was driving around with my bro and his bud one time and all of a sudden they are like, "stop and pop the trunk." I was confused but I did it and the next thing i knew there was a huge sign sticking out the back of my car (trunk wouldn't shut with it in there) and they were inside telling me to floor it... hmmmm...

waste of time....too soft..... i remember paying $1200. CAD for that same setup, and it sucked......look at good set of used coilovers, i got a used set of SUSTEC PRO's for $600. CAD, very happy with that purchase......the problem with springs and struts is that your supension stroke is limited(front suspension)with coilovers u have the full stroke and the car is less bouncey/twichey in the front, plus dampening is 10x better

You have to start some where.I'm picking up my first 240sx this month.I have the drift king DVD and a newley paved developement.with no houses on it. So"Tere it is, I'm going for it!." "Hey, I have an idea."'Man you ain't seen nothing yet." and "Hay baby check this out."There I have thoroughly jinxed the whole thing.

Well, I was still using the same principal of weight transfer. I steered away from the turn, then quickly turned-in to help induce oversteer. Feint or not, it definitely is fun!

I haven't tried to practice too much lately since I've been having engine woes. But, those are all ironed out. Since I have new wheels and tires on the way, it's time to burn these tires down. Too bad I don't have LSD, I think that would help a lot in being able to control the drift... Oh well, soon. I might as well start at the bottom and learn with an open diff..

My first "drift" was in a fwd 3800lb '89 olds cutlas sedan. Laugh it up. Wet ground, left foot on the parking brake, right hand on the wheel while I hunched forward to reach the brake release with the other hand. I can't say I will ever forget that one...
