So I checked my oil today...

I topped off my cars oil 2 days ago. It has smoked since and tonight when I got home, I checked it again. And it's ALREADY a quart low. I'm thinking to myself, 'this is rediculous'. Someone please tell me what could be wrong. I was thinking the rings are just completely shot. It has 141,xxx miles on it. Some thing is pretty wrong here, I just need someone to point me in the right direction.

point yourself in the right direction with a compression(dry and wet, make sure engine is warm for both) and leakdown test. this should tell you if your rings are shot, and how shot they are(compression numbers)good luck.
