I have the Alpine 450 Mono Amp rated at 400 watts at 2 ohms. I had a 12" Infinity DVC 4ohm Sub. I was looking at the Alpine TYPE R SWR-1242D 12" Dual 4 Ohm, but it also comes in a 2-Ohm. So my question is, which do I get(2 or Ohm) and do I wire it parallel or series.

Specs on the Sub:SPECIFICATIONS:* Power Handling Capacity (Peak): 1500W* Power Handling Capacity (RMS): 500W* Dual 4 Ohm Voice Coils* Frequency Response: 24Hz – 500Hz* Kevlar Reinforced Pulp Cone* Custom Cast Aluminum Frame with Integrated Perimeter Venting and Heat Transfer Plate* Mirrored Progressive Nomex ® Spiders with Reinforced Layer Integrated Tinsel Leads* Compound Radius Curve (CRC) Motor Structure* Multi-Stage Thermal Management System* HAMR Surround and Concealed Mount Gasket* Aluminum Airflow Motor Cover* Insert Push Terminals with One-sided Layout* Designed and Engineered in the USA

You'll want the dual 4-ohm sub. When wired in parallel this will yield a final 2-ohm load. Just be careful when setting the amp that you don't try to push it over 400 watts RMS, or you could do some damage to the new sub as well.

a single dual 4ohm sub can only be wired to 2ohms or to 8 ohms... a single dual 2 ohm sub can be wired to 4 ohms or 1 ohm... here's a nice little configuration wizard on rocford's website... check it out here http://www.rockfordfosgate.com...d.asp
