What are you into? Museums? Head to Simi Valley and see the Reagan museum. They dropped a Boeing on some pedestals and built a building around it. All the original hardware and interior from the 70s and 80s are still in tact.

The Birch Aquarium is pretty awesome. http://www.aquarium.ucsd.edu/

The Oceanside Pier is nice too if you like to fish or just take in the scenery.

Lol, can you not figure out something to do in Southern California? Are you going to be in L.A. and San Diego? They're like an 1hr 1/2 apart iirc.

You could go to places like:

-Sea World
-Six Flags
-Venice Beach
-Hollywood Blvd. (overrated)
-Beverly Hills (shopping)
-Paramount Studios
-Coronado Island

There's a TON of stuff to do in that area. What I regret not doing last time I was there is going to the Tonight Show (Jay Leno). He's in Burbank and all you have to do is wait in line for the tickets, they're free.

I'm into mueseums but my buds won't be, so I probably won't make it there :frown:

But the Air Force One Pavilion looks insane...

Hmm, 20 minutes away from San Diego Zoo...

I might be able to check this out after the Zoo. Not sure how much time we plan on spending in San Diego but this is definitely on my to do list.

Mostly LA but plan on making a day trip to SD.

Sea World and Six Flags are a maybe. I am on a tight budget so amusement parks are probably off the list.
Definitely Venice Beach, Hollywood Blvd. and Paramount. My buddy lives in the 90210 so I will see these things by just walking/driving around.

Coronado Island...
What about it?

Coronado Island...
What about it?
Coronado Island is a small unique beach community across a bridge from San Diego. It's home to an amazing hotel called the Hotel Del Coronado, gigantic wooden luxury hotel, beautiful beach. The place has been featured in several movies including :Some like it hot", and My Blue heaven. I stayed there once. Awesome place.

San Diego zoo is not 20 minutes from LA unless you have WARP engines. It's about 125 miles from LAX (airport) on some of the busier roads in the country.

IF you're flying into LA, LA has plenty to see by itself, from Universal studio tours, Hollywood, to Beverly Hils (Rodeo Drive), Disneyland, Knots Berry Farm, 6 flags, Venice Beach, Long Beach is a short drive,

You could easily spend a week just in San Diego as there's so much to do. IF you're flying into LA, I would suggest not spending a half day driving to/from LA just to spend a couple hours in San diego. There's so much to do right there in and around LA.

Other than meeting some NICO members, I had fun just wandering around the area looking for interesting roads. I have fond memories of that whole trip, which is all I have because Surpass Hosting lost my pics.

San Diego Zoo is 20 minutes from the Aquarium

Universal Tours sounds good.
Knots Berry Farm might me a go. Not super expensive, probably not as entertaining as other more expensive options but still looks like a good time.

And yes, I definitely plan on spending a full day or two in San Diego to go see the sights. I just wish it was football season :frown:

I'd sugggest doing San Diego with an overnight stay due to the drive. If you're staying overnight in SD, doing a Harbor cruise is cool. The Pacific fleet is stationed there, so you'll see pretty much every kind of warship there is. Unless you like squalor, I suggest not crossing the border into Mexico.

You could also catch a Padres game.

SeaWorld San Diego is fun, but best on a hot day, when you want to get splashed by a killer whale, (frequent occurance). The Zoo is world class and big. You could easily spend a day just at the zoo. There's also ballooning at DelMar (champagne flights at sunset FTW with a date). La Jolla is nice (pronounced La Hoya).

If amusement parks are a "maybe", then depending on the weather, you should definitely check out Raging Waters. Plus everything else thats been mentioned.

Disneyland is the only park I'd go to in LA. The rest are the kind of thing you can find elsewhere in the country. But Disneyland is one of a kind - the original real deal!

Go to Jay for a long overdue buttsechs appointment? When are you going? Maybe Razi will be around and you 3 can hit up a joint, literally, or not. Depending on your time and if I am able to do it, I'll be in the area and we can chill for the time being I'm out there testing?

I'd say hit up a few clubs, sight see around Hollywood, check out a few amusement parks, go to a game.

Rent a nice car, get yourself some excellent tunes and reserve a late afternoon to take a drive up Highway 1. I haven't cared about driving a car outside of a track in a number of years, but a drive up Highway 1 is something else. An awesome trip with the Pacific Ocean to your right the whole time till you get up toward central Cali.

I actually need to do that. The entire time I've had my license, I've been told to do it. One of these days... One of these days... :yesnod

HWY 1, also known as PCH (Pacific Coast Highway), between Santa Monica and North Malibu/County Line is awesome. If you do that stop at county line and eat lunch at Neptune's Net, watch the surfers and kite boarders for a while. If you're in a cool car you could do a canyon run (13 miles) up through Decker Canyon. I take the Vette through it every few months.

When's the trip? If you guys have passports I might be inclined to take you down to Baja which is like a tropical vacation and only 30min south of SD. When in SD go down to mission beach and look at the beautiful women(ignore the dudes). We used to surf down there as well 4 days a week. Make sure to center yourself around Garnet and Mission Beach Blvd. I've got to catch a flight in a few hours so I'll post more tomorrow.

Doubt my friends will be up for it but I have heard only good things about Highway 1. Highway one is the super scenic route by the coast correct?

I already do this in NJ. It will definitely happen in CA.

Ah, yeah, neither me or Razi will be in town about then. The 28 is the day I have to make my decision to test out there or not. Good luck to you man! I hope you have a big enough blast out there to want a round 2!

Good timing, right now the weather(as usual) is perfect. I'm heading to a car show themed this month as "Down & Dirty" Sunday the 1st and heading straight to Baja from there. If you guys are still in SD and want to jump the border for a day let me know. Here's what we wake up to every morning down there.

My alma mater. Westwood Blvd. is on the south side of the campus so go to Sunset Blvd. on the north side of the campus and drive it to the beach. Lots of curves, scenery and beautiful homes along the way. Mulholland Drive is only a couple of freeway exits to the north and it goes in the direction of the beach also. You'll be able to see where the rich and famous crash their exotics.

If I was a young man looking to experience California I'd head to Hermosa Beach for the day. It's 3 or 4 miles south of LAX. Westwood is about 10 miles north of LAX so it's not far. Bring or rent a bike a bike for the day and cruise the Strand checking out the scenery (people watching) from Redondo beach to Marina Del Rey and Venice Beach/Santa Monica if you're ambitious. It's all flat and an easy ride. Head back to the Poop Deck next to the Hermosa pier, get yourself a window seat, and watch the young girls in bikinis walk and ride by on the Strand while you enjoy a couple of pitchers of cold beer. You'll never forget your visit.

Spend the evening just 2 blocks away at my best man Mike Lacey's COMEDY AND MAGIC CLUB and see some great acts. Jay Leno is there every Sunday Night. When the show is over the traffic will have died down, you'll be sober, and the 15 mile drive back to Westwood will be a breeze. Enjoy.
