And, I'm having my G checked out to see what is making the clicking sound in the rear when I accelerate/decelerate. It's not a constant clicking, but it will only click once per acceleration/deceleration. I wanted to a mechanic's opinion to match to my own. Other than the clicking, the car is running great.

All that talk about clicking sounds coming from the rear in BrandAidG35's recent post about his transmission being stuck got me thinking, so now I'm here to see whats good in the hood...

When the guy gets back to me and lets me know whats goin on, I'll let you guys know...

But in the meantime, I'm gonna go drool over the GTR they have in the showroom

I had the same problem with mine. Its probabaly your rear right axle spline. There is a TSB out on that problem. All it needs is a pleenty of grease packe din it and tightning of some bolts. If the dealership tells you otherwise, come back and let us know.

Leave it in 1st and drive slowly with the windows down. Tap your throttle semi-hard a few times.

If you hear the noise when you tap, then it's the rear axle splines that need to be greased and re-torqued.

This issues has been covered numerous times. You'd better start reading more lol

No, VDC is on when it happens

Well they came back and told me that nothing was wrong with it, but I'm going to go to the Infiniti dealership 2 hours from here in Richmond and see what they have to say

I read the articles and previous posts... I do my homework

I just wanted to get someone's opinion that could actually look at the car in person.

There's a TSB on the issue.

I found my method to be the easiest way to reproduce the sound for the dealership.

The service department rep came back and told me that were able to reproduce the sound while they drove it around and they ran some tests on it and still came back saying that there was nothing wrong with the car. The only conclusion they were able to come up with was that there is some "play" in the differential that will cause the clicking...

I just got off the phone with Pearson Infiniti in Richmond and they will call me back to discuss the issue.

I love when dealerships say crap like that.

Can you reproduce the sound via my method? If so, take it to them. Do a test drive with them. Make the sound and tell them to fix it.

yeah i can produce the sound using your method...

It's very consistent and very predictable. When I take it to the dealership in Richmond I'll show them the issue there and I guess they'll deal with it from there...

I noticed in a M35 I was driving that I would get a "clunk" when I took off if VDC was on but not one with it off. I assumed it was VDC applying the brakes to keep traction.

I've always had good luck by taking the TSB with me or telling them that there's a TSB out on the same problem.
