I'm at that point in the semester, where I'm just so frustrated with everything. My classes are a pain in the arse and I'm sick of them. My one class I spend forever doing homework without getting any problems done, which is very frustrating. A lot of my buddies are saying the same thing....and we all feel like idiots. Thank you engineering for making us feel worthless and retarded. Anyone else going through this right now?

I was motivated and positive for most of the semester....but I've hit the point where my classes have sucked that out of me and I just want it to stop because I can't take it anymore.

yeaaah it happened to me a lot too: there was always that point in the semester where you wanna just be like F EVERYTHING IM SICK OF THIS SHIIIIIIIIIIIIT. course, the class was always divided between the people who gave into those feelings and those who didnt: the high grades and the low ones.

It sucks but part of succeeding and doing well is pushing through exactly those feelings that EVERYONE has. lol sorry if that doesnt help, but it took me a long time to realise that right now is when things really matter....

Good luck man, buck up!

I was there about the same time of the year(I'm doing co-op this semester). Almost coming to an end but yet still more work. They'll pound you with alot of homework. I think you just need a weekend off, that usually helps. Go away somewhere for the weekend, that's what I did when I was getting drowned of school work and feeling retarded.

Mechanical Engineering. Classes are a ***** and don't expect to be happy during your classes. Of course some of them are fun, but for the most part they like to rape you and make you feel stupid.

I'm pretty sure the first half of November is worldwide Bad Luck Month. I've had the worst car problems I've ever in the history of me driving (which goes back way before I got my liscence), three of my four decent computers have died, and on the way to work yesterday (at 10:15 so it was too dark to be as simple as it should have been--and raining) my stupid ford got a flat tire. I hate Ford more every time I drive that thing. But at least I have a car while the Max is in the shop. I'm selling it saturday. Sad thing is, my roommate's buying it. I can't escape from the evil ford!!!

None of that is really very bad, but its the worst luck I've had since...say...February (that was a homicidal tendency inducing month--stabbitty stab-stab!!!). Plus I hear about everybody's school issues and problems at work and relationship troubles and mass suicides and...man...we need to delete these 2 weeks from the calendar.

The way I see it, I go to school to learn and get a degree so I can show my employer that I've gotten an education.

I think learning should be fun. I'm a nerd who goes to the library and reads art and history books because I feel like I don't know enough. I think some schools are too focused on drilling their students and they make them so stressed that they don't actually learn - they just cram what they need to in order to get a grade but don't actually care about what they are studying.

I think I had a point when I started this post but it's gone now....

So basically, don't stress yourself out too much. Just learn the material and have fun with it and the good grades will easily follow.

Oh, and I hate people who are like social sciences and humanities are easier than engineering courses. I don't think it's any easier, it just requires a different type of thinking.

My dude is an ME and he has a 4.0 GPA which is higher than mine. He's a bastard.

If you don't get the materials, why not ask the prof for help or go to help sessions? That way you don't have to spend hours slaving over a problem that makes no sense.

Your GPA in engineering really depends on where you go to school. If your going to a state school your GPA is going to be high compared to a private pure engineering school.....unless you're a freakin genius, then I just hate you.

Also with most engineering classes, you can't have fun in them.....does advanced and applied differential equations sound fun??

If it makes you feel less stressed, while I was at work I passed out and coughed up blood.

State school or not..your GPA depends on their curriculum & professors. I go to Mississippi State & the ME department is not a walk in the park. Our ME curriculum is almost the same as Georgia Tech. Maybe other state schools will give you a higher GPA, but not this one.

As for advance & applied DEs it's not that bad. Try Experimental Orientation.
