I see these posts all the time about preludes civics blah blah...

So, in my city theres quite a few hopped up mx3 precidias (mostly body kits, but exhaust and intake)

How would my 89 5 spd 240sx hold up against an MX3 Precidia V6? I know the 4 banger mx3 would be an embarrament.

Lets hear it!

If you were stock SOHC and they were modded you'd lose, unless they had an automatic and you had a manual, in which case it'd be close. Those V6's are tiny, only like 2.4 or 2.5 liters I think, but the whole weight of the car is down too, so i'm told they are a little quicker than our cars, especially a sohc. I'm saying a modded 240 would beat it, but a stock sohc would lose.

Thats my guess, anyone ever raced one?

the v6 is a 1.8 liter, and it would be a drivers race.

if the sohc cam maintains good compression and is a good running motor with a 5 speed and a good clutch, you shoul dbeat the mx-3 with a good launch

A small V6 for a small car.I have a friend who tried to rice out his first car(mx3 4 banger)He added CAI that he had to make himself, and exhaust. Then he put on some vinel stripes and painted his mirrors, swaped to the one windshild wiper, painted his hubcaps,ect...All in all no matter what he put into the car it was still slow.He got his arse handed to him by a stock 89 240 auto.

On a happy note the guy learned from his rice lesson and now has a CRX w/ JDM motor and no rice mods!

I used to own an MX-3 GS V6. 5-speed, slow. Trust me. I had an intake, exhaust, wires and some other crap, but it was still slow. the car only makes about 130HP. the only thing you have to look out for is if it has an engine swap. Some people were putting in the 2.5 V6 out of the MX-6 and Probe GT. this puts out like 160HP and some really enterprising people have done the JDM 2.5L (KZ engine code??) and I believe thats got about 195HP

Actually they are even smaller. The MX-3 GS is a 1.8L V6. I think it is the smallest wide production V6 made. The four bangers had more potential as you could easily turbo them. There was a guy in canada who had one that was doing high 10s on the 1/4 and that was with a full interior. The car is very very light. Also, I think some people did a swap with the Turbo motor out of the 323 GTX. I think that thing put out about 200HP bu tI am not sure

It is a 1.8 liter v6, the smallest v6 of its time. Not sure about now....

you should be able to kill it unless he has swapped the engine. Like I said, they are painfully slow. I remember just before I sold it to buy my brothers 93 Prelude Si (H23) we raced. My modded MX-3 got spanked so bad it wasn't funny, and the 'lude was bone stock. God I loved that 'lude though..... sold it for an education though....... damn college.

Doesn't matter the probe sucks anyways.:pface

As long as your engine is in good shape, and you can drive stick better than my mom, you'll be ok.
