yah I read the faq already....

and I know that most people spend like 250~350 for the 5 lug conversion. but **** I don't want that, it's too expensive and I heard it may require drilling depending on the donor (z32/s13/s14) and I don't think I want to mess with it.

Plus I got some 4 lug rims for cheap already so I am staying 4 lug no matter what.

I am interested in 300zx brake calibers, especially the front, yah, the one with 4 pistons. I am wondering if it's a direct bolt on? Can I still use my old brake pads? how about rotors? I am suspecting no for both so that's the alternate solution? redrill a new set of 300zx brake rotors?

is there anything in particular that I should know about? the 300zx caliber/pistons uses 1 brake line per wheel right?

you need z rotors and pads... the 240 rotors are too small. ANd yes 1 line per wheel, but you need to get conversion brake lines.

As he said it's one brake line per caliper, you will want to get the steel braided ones [rubber ones will expand]

You will need new rotors & might need to drill them if they are 5 lug, you will need new pads and you will need to either remove the dust shield or cut it so the caliper will fit in there. Use bolts to hold the caliper on from the 240, I believe the Z32 bolts are too long. You will probably want to get a new master cylinder to give you a better brake pedal feel. You also have the choice of 26mm or 30mm brake rotors/calipers.. make sure you get the correct ones and that you dont have any wheel clearance issues..

how do I identifify 26mm and 30mm? is 26mm na and 30mm from the turbo z32? will z32 rotors/pads differ with the size of 26mm and 30mm?

I will probably get brembo blanks as I heard they are good quality, are they good for redrilling? I will end up with 8 or 9 holes on the rolors, right? what's the chance of the rolor weakening or even crack from redrilling?

lastly, can I get front upgrades only and screw the rear?

lots of places offer them redrilled cheap... i think http://www.srswap.com is one

Also rear upgrades arent worth much, the front does most of the braking.

You will not have any problems with redrilling them. 2 members on a local board have done this and they both race competitively solo I and solo II and neither have had any problems.

YOu can do it yourself if you have the right tools, or a shop can do it for very little.
