i love playstaion as much as the next guy, but until they either

A) drop the price

orB) release a MUST HAVE game...ie metal gear solid 4, or the like

im not shelling out 600 bucks for a pretty picture. Hell unless you have a 1080i tv i cant really see it being worth it...right now im happy with PS2 and my "inferior" 720p hd lcd tv...

I will pick up a wii the second im able to locate one tho

Well, I have two strikes against me in that 1) I'm broke, and 2) I'm cheap.

I have been a pretty dedicated Sony fan since the days of the PSX (read: fan, not fanboy). As such, I have owned a PSX and PS2 (though I fail at life right now because I want a PSP, but am yet without ). I have compiled an okay library of games (kinda small, but all I am happy with; mostly racing and fighting), so backward compatability has always been a selling point for me (+1 for future, distant future PS3 ownership). I suppose I am also afraid of change, and would rather stick to what's familiar. I can say that I do like the PGR series on Xbox and I'm dying to try the Wii Sports game.

On the other hand, my son has a GCN, and the wife is kinda excited about the Nintendo Wii (I would have just put "Wii", but I know how some of you guys are out there ). Who knows? Kid behaves for a year or two, add in a price drop or (provided supply comes within a hair of demand) locate a used one at a decent price, and things may look good for getting one of those.

Despite the overwhelming anti-PS3 bandwagon that gets more jumpers than that of drifting, I still think that 2nd and 3rd gen titles on Sony's wonderbox will r0x0r teh s0x0rz, and I still intend on getting one (deeply, deeply discounted) later on. Heh, I waited untill the $299 -> $199 price drop to get my PSX, and I bought my PS2 used on ebay three years ago (with two controllers, ten games, and a memory card) for a fraction of release day prices. Oh, and it's the original non-slim version and it still works flawlessly.

So yeah, that's my $0.02 on that. And for reading this whole long, drawn out post, here's some bewbage for you:

.......Made you look!!

I agree completely with superDorifto and Sil40_Mayhem. I neither have the money, or could not justify spending $600 on a system for the game or two I actually want to play.

I echo what's been said:I'd buy one if it cost less and there were several titles that I really wanted.

It took until just recently for me to even consider getting a 360 for mostly the latter reason. Unless Sony gets their crap together and stops scaring away exclusives, they're never going to have any games I want that I can't get on the 360 or my PC.

I'm no MGS fan, 360 is getting the best GTA deal, I don't like FF games...No reason anytime in the near future to get a PS3 for me.

A friend of mine will probably be getting one sometime later this year (for some FF game or another). So I'll get a taste of one up-close then.

FF and MGS4 (if it doesnt come to the 360) are pretty much the only reason I would consider a PS3. I just cant wait for Forza 2, Assassin's Creed, and GTA4 to hit.

I will probably end up getting one, but it's going to be way down the line when they work out all of the kink's and bug's and it's price goes down a smidge.

I just hope it won't break every year like my 3 previous PS2's

well, from what ive heard, mgs4 will be on 360 eventually, so really the only reason to get a ps3 is to hold out for GT5, and for the next FF...other than that sony is dropping the ball big time...

The price is what kills sony, and the fact that they lose money on every console because of that damn blu ray drive. That and they need to get some good titles out soon, it seems that everyone is regretting shelling out the 2000-3000 at launch to get one off of ebay.

Now the fact that you still cant buy a Wii in stores amazes me, ME and my GF camped out for the Wii on launch day, got it with Zelda and it was really fun. But then i looked at the current titles, and the future titles and jumped ship and traded across for a 360 premium with Grears of War. I am much happier now with the 360.

ive vehemently defended sony for years and have been loyal. but they are pushing it this time. alot of gamers are in the same boat. after reading the egm interview with a sony usa rep. alot of what he said was true. how buying a ps3 was like an investment cause sont has staying power. but thats not the point. its just..........man thats alot of money. and the lineup game lineup isnt making me go out and get one. yeah it has blu ray but come on. we didnt ask for that. we dont want the god of gaming systems. we want a good gaming system. and theyve done an ok job until this crazy system business. im just waiting for mgs5 myself. but if they dont get more games then that might have to wait till the system price goes down.

Some say the price is justified because your getting a blue-ray player, and normal blu-ray players go for about the same as a ps3. OMG VALUE!!!

Thing is, I don't, nor will I ever want Blu-Ray movies.

I know that the blue-ray drive is an integral part of the ps3, but why could'nt they come up with a version that didn't have all that blu-ray movie stuff built in. Something that JUST PLAYS GAMES and is cheaper. As long as the games are in 1080p I would be set.

Why can't things go back to the way of the SNES and Genesis. Video game consoles played just that, video games. And they were damn good at it too, but now MS and Sony want to sell their consoles as complete home media solution's. Sure, people might want that, but it takes away from the whole gaming aspect of the console.

Sony just dropped the price of the PSP to $169, I bet the PS3 isnt too far behind for a reduction in cost. I would consider buying it only then.

Way too much money for me right now. I'll get a PSP in the meantime.

Sweet! I can almost fee that PSP in the palm of my sweaty hands. Concerning the PS3, there is a rumor that the new manufacturing process for the Cell processor (which is the main chip in the PS3) will drive down manufacturing costs and, possibly, the consumer price for the system. I'm crossing my fingers , but if it comes down to it, I can wait three or four years like I did w/my PS2.

It took Sony a couple years to drop the price of the PSP, so I seriously doubt they are going to drop the price of the PS3 soon.

When the PS3 is at 300 bucks ill pick one up, until then, my money is going to stuff I need, like car stuff.

There is a rumored price drop that Sony is talking about. If they aren't going to do it in the next few weeks then I'm just gonna pick up one in the next week or two. I like my 360 but there are certain games that i will only play on the PlayStation.

+ I get my crap from the navy base,no taxes rock, 599 out the door.

I heard of a price drop too. They are apparently going to take out the chip that allows backwards compatibility for all games out of the box. They are going to go the way of xbox360 and use emulation software to run PS1 and PS2 games . It will drop the price down, but I think it's a bit dissapointing. But I have my PS3 with the chip so... no skin off of my back.

HORSECRAP. i love the ps3. love it. resistance fall of man is the s***. and what is this crap about the graphics not being that good. 720p here too, but the games are frickin sweet. the good games will come out later this year. i dont like ff or mgs either, but the other games are gonna kickass.the price is a big thing, granted, but the games will get better. developers can cram 50gb of info onto one of those bluray discs, so the possibilities are endless. the price drop will happen, just dont know when. the lens menufacturing costs were cut by more than half i think. one ofthe most expensive parts on it.
