So theres this place in minnisota sort of north of the twin cities and they had a 95 nissan 240sx for $3999. It was an auto (oh well) wasnt an SE, but still had some options, and had 100k miles.

Anyway my dad called them tuesday and asked if they still had it, which they did, he explained that we would be up there saturday, and they agreed to hold the car for us, and call us if they had anyone interested in it.

So we left here at 4am, took it [around] 6 hour drive, got there at like 10, looked at the lot, couldnt find it.. i figured they had it somewhere else, we get in, talk to the dealer, he says "well.. its the darndest thing, someone came in yesterday [friday] and bought it the same day, but if you are still interested in a sporty car, we got a saturn in"

GOD ****ING DAMNIT!!!!  no.. i dont want a ****ing saturn, we didnt drive 6 hours for a ****ing saturn, i wanted that ****ing 240sx!!!!! and they agreed to "HOLD IT" for us

so we leave and it ride back was crappy.. i was hoping to drive that ****ing car home that same day.. but instead we just stoped at the mall of america for the hell of it, then looked at some lots, i mean who knows, there could be atleast something

but anyway im so ****ing disapointed, i was so close to a nice s14, i like s13's but never thought of getting an s14 for that cheap.. i dont feel like going back to s13s now that i was that close.. i want a ****ing s14 :(

3999 for a base model automatic seems a bit high to me. If it was in good shape thn I guess it is worth that.

yeah but 240's are pretty rare around this area.. there is only one guy with a 95+, and my friend has a 91 coupe.. there are other s13s tho.. i really hate this area.. nothing buy over priced civics and eclipses, so most of the great deals are out of state, and i wasnt going to pass that deal up.. still its base and whatever

Yeah we got a 95 base auto about 30 miles from me that could be had for about 3k 151k miles though and needs the hood painted. I think it is over priced though.

Don't take it too hard man. I'm sure another will come along that is even better.

You know, you could look for cars that are out of state, and then you wouldn't have to pay sales tax.(if you live near the border).

I was sorta in your same situation, but we have plenty of inexpensive ones down here.

:O!I know how you feel. I missed my chance of buying a red 240 when I found one for sale. Do you know who the dealer was? I'm guessing its one of the dealers in Brooklyn Center. Puhaha, "but if you are still interested in a sporty car, we got a saturn in" that statement sounds like the Nissan dealer that wanted me to buy a Cavalier[sp?] when I asked them if they had any 240s around.

By chance was it this 240?

Would you come back here for another 240 if there was one for sale and if the owner/dealer would hold it for you? If yes, I could keep an eye out for any s14s.

*Edit. Fixed it so that it made sense. :P

yes that was the one.. and yeah i would come back, all the best deals ive seen on 240's are somewhere out of state, mostly MN. plus i live in sioux falls, it isnt the drive thats bad, its just going home without the car i wanted, and 5k to blow on something

Don't worry, I passed up 4 automatic S14s. My search took well over 6 months but it was worth it (I guess...).

I had sort of the same thing happen with a friend of mine. We drove to Texas from OKlahoma to look at an s14 for him. We get there and the car isnt in bad shape. We test drive it and the car dies a block away from the dealership. Its an automatic and the alternator was bad.

We were kind of happy, because we thought we were going to get the car really cheap. Turns out they are going to try and sell it to some other sucker.

Since then my friend doesnt want to travel more then 50 miles for his sr candidate.

 I've never seen one around here go for leass than $4000, which is what I payed. I see base models go for upwards of $5500 at times!

And I feel your pain for the dealer selling the car out from under you. The same thing happened to me on a nice s13 for $2500 and the car that I thought was perfect- 1995 black 240sx SE 5spd for $5800 with just over 100k on it. When the guy sold it out from under me I was depressed as can be... I mean we told him we were on our way to pick it up with the money and he sold it. Bastard. My dad *****ed him out for a while, didn't really amount to much though. I still remember the liscence plate number too... :(

When I was about to graduate my dad and I were looking at cars, we found a GREAT used blazer with like 7,000 miles on it, leather interior, premium audio...2002, the works, it was great. My dad decided that we could get it for less if we didn't show any interest in it so we left (silly father), we went home and told my mom about it, she asked why we didn't buy it, my dad said he thought he could get it cheaper so my mom said she'd take me back up and we'd put a deposit on it. Sure enough we get back just to watch it drive off the lot as someone else had just bought it. Oh well, it didn't matter much since I got another nice Blazer anyway but then rolled it about a year after getting it. Works out better for my parents though, now they dont have to pay the car payment! They said that was the last car they'd help me with and they really meant it :)

Dealers suck. I paid 5500 for my '95 SE auto w/ 113k miles though. I wasn't even looking for a 240, just saw it, thought it looked cool, and bought it. Then I got the fever......

Good luck in your search, there are plenty s14's out there for everyone. Go steal some stupid ricer's s14 and give it a good home.

well look at it this way, if u had a car to sell and someone wanted u to hold it but somone came in and gave u the money, u would sell it without a problem.. but let me tell u, just hold off untill u find the perfect car, 2 of my friends bought POS's because they bought the first car they saw.. now they have had them for a few months and they are braking.. i told em not to buy em.. oh well.. moral of the story: hold out, and test drive alot of the cars, and look over EVERYTHING befor you buy.. and try to buy from a person and not a car dealer, they will just rip u off..

i feel the pain I wasnt searching for a 240 either. I was just looking for a decent rwd car. my friend was selling his 86 corolla gts for $1000 and i new they were popular and sporty. So I went over and under the hood was massive frame repairs, some duct tape, etc. sadly i went to my best friend's dealership on my bmx to notice that he was bringing in a 95 from the auction. it was mine before it came off the truck!!! (well after $4000)

I had the 240 fever before I bought mine. My best friend had a 89 coupe and I loved how it rode/handled. I wanted one way bad, but I made sure I didnt make the same mistake he did( his was auto, mine is 5 spd.) I bought a hatch and his was a coupe.

240's are waaaaaaaay overpriced. Its a strange world when a 95 240sx base model auto goes for $5500, and i can go pick up a infiniti Q45 in great condition ($55,000+ new) for the same price.

I passed on a 95 base model for $2000 needed a little cosmetic work (paint, and minimal body work) 130k probly should have bought it. would have made a nice daily driver. Though it may still be there. 1500 would prob. pick it up.

 wow. kelly blue book for s13's even with the mileage mine had when i bought it privately (81k) is $4k. that's an astronomical amount that dealer is charging. i doubt anyone will buy it at that price. now, i have seen a s13 fastback with 50k original miles go for $5995, that *kind* of makes more sense..

Well it all depends on how the dealer is selling it. Cash prices usually are cheaper, most advertised prices are for payments. When you get into tote your note lots they tend to mark up cars quite harshly. Ask them for a cash price and they might quote you 3500.

i would pick it up, fix the little cosmetic work on it and sell it for like double the price, if not keep it, 5 speed?

yep yep, i drove to SD (only 2 hours) once to pick up a white 5spd 240 w/rims, ended up the guy sold it already (*******) but it was good that he did, cause i ended up finding a 96 s14 with 120k miles on it, yet it was 5spd, dropped with KYB blues, had intake and exhaust, for about 5g's. not bad......
