been tryin to do this damn sr20 swap, and the auto-manual swap at the same time. i have zero mechanical experience but i've been told by so many that i could do it. well, i finally got to where i could turn the car over... pushed the clutch all the way in...turned the key... click under the dash. i crawled under and it was the little box you have to move to put the clutch pedal in. for the transmission part of it, i only spliced the black yellow wire to the white like it says...is there more? i assume its wiring somewhere. also, theres a button type thing on the clutch pedal...but no wires coming from it... are there supposed to be? i've been tryin to get this for 2 months now and every time i think im almost there somethin goes wrong and i seriously just want to push it off a cliff right now. someone please help me.

the clutch pedal has a sensor on it to tell if its pressed in or not. if you are doing an auto to manual swap, then it becomes irrelevant. you actually can still turn over the motor without pushing in the clutch, but thats a bad idea anyways.

and were those wires you spliced located under the passenger side fuse box? i know under there those wires need to be spliced. i forgot what color they are though.

In J-land, cars do not come with the sensor. It is actually better for the clutch to start the car in neutral. It is bad for the car and those around you if you try to start the car in gear, which is the only reason they have that mechanism in cars in the US.

For starters you should try to jump the engine with a wire from the battery to the starter. If it starts then you gotta figure out the wiring, if it doesn't start then check fuel, spark, etc.

we touched a screwdriver to the starter and the silanoid was turning but the motor wasnt turning over...or it was making a buzzing sound anyway. if im not mistaken, it will still turn over with no fuel or spark, right? i do have gas in it but its not even trying.

So you try to crank the engine and it won't turn over? You hear a click? Maybe you could try pulling the starter out and just seeing if it will turn by jumping it from the battery.

I would remove the starter from the car and jump it from the battery just to see if the starter turns with 12v.

^^ what he said.

sounds like the starter isn't functioning properly if you're jumping it and nothing happens

yeah but the motor is in... so i guess i'll have to pull out the ole jack stands again and try from under. if the starter is bad, will the ka starter work?

My car doesnt start from time to time, best i can figure is a blad spot on the starter. Try pushing the car a little and pop the clutch to get the starter to turn. Try the key and see if it will start the car. Works for me, i have to do it like once a week or so.
