I want to spend more of my time doing constructive things other then watching tv and looking up retarded useless crap on the internet. Its too cold to do certain things with my car, not having a garage. I like reading, but the old car mags get old, the new ones dont come soon enough. Every time I get bored I have nothnig to do but turn that stupid thing on. So what are some good books anyone knows of, that are about constructive things, like learning.

Ender's Game series by Orson Scott Card Also the Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls. I had to read it for English but it turned out to be pretty good.

Ender's game books read like they were made for middle school kids...

Still, alot of people think they have to read serious stuff all the time... let me know if you feel like getting a list of good sci-fi novels.

Good books? No. I liked this one a lot though. It was funny and a very interesting read.

Artie is the resident comedian on the Howard Stern show. He has led a very, very screwed up life, and the book is filled with tons of true stories about him.

Reading gives me a headache, lol. Seriously, it does. I can read for hours on a computer but for some reason reading a book for 20+ min. makes my brain hurt.

Even though they're technically children's books, the "Tripods Trilogy" by John Christopher are good books. Think "War of the Worlds" except the aliens won.

Most anything by C.S. Lewis, especially the Space Trilogy. Despite the name, they are not sci-fi.

John Steakley's "Armor" is one of the best sci-fi books I've ever read. Fantastic visceral storytelling. Jack Crow is the penultimate anti-hero from before the character type became a cliché.

All 6 of the classic Dune series are smegging fantastic. At least read the first one, and keep going if you like it. The first 3 are direct sequels. The 4th is kind of more philosophical in nature and separate from the rest chronologically. The 5th and 6th are direct sequels again, but the 6th is probably the "slowest" of the series. The first, 4th, and 5th are my favorites. Miles Teg is a badass. All but the 6th have recently been re-released in hardcover and the 6th is on the way.

Well, I think they were, but hell so was Harry Potter. I still enjoyed them thoroughly. The series gets more mature down the road.

YES to all of these.

Bradbury rocks.

Other Philip d!ck books to check out:Martian Timeslip (my favorite from d!ck)A Scanner Darkly (good book, but very depressing)

The entire Hitchhiker series is excellent. My favorite is the 3rd in the series, "Life, The Universe, and Everything." Slartibartfast is easily the best character in the books, and the 3rd book revolves mainly around him and his Starship Bistromath. Much awesome to be experienced.
