Clearly a scam. If that were really Anthony Hopkins he probably would've signed his name "Sir Anthony Hopkins". At least make it believable.

I had tons of those kinda emails when I put my Mirage on CL. Responded like you did to the first few, then got bored and stopped acknowledging them.

I know a guy by the name of Anthony Hopkins.

He was caught fondling another man in the dorms one time during my freshman year.

I hate selling items on CL, I always get those retarded kids asking if I wanna sell my car for his allowance or they "really want my car" but they have to ask the parents! :tisk:
then you get those scammers.

Ever notice how he says "chianti" wrong in the movie? It really bothers me that a distinguished person such as Dr. Lechter would butcher that word so brutally.

Also, apparently fava beans make you horny, but too much can make you ill.

He uses a hard "a" in the middle. The umlaut clearly suggests a softer sound. Blame my English minor...

Dave is absolutely right. I blame it on the character having no one distinct accent.

But back to Tita's scam story.

the umlaut is there to separate the 'a' sound from the 'i' sound. it's like cooperate. there's an umlaut on that second 'o' so it's pronounced co-op-erate, not coop-erate. nahmean?

it's pronounced ~kee-aun-tee AFAIK. That's consistent with an umlaut over the a so not really.

Tho really, an umlaut over an a or an o sound basically the same, so he's still not saying it right.

You should ask him to send a pic of himself first.

Funny, because Lechter was from Baltimore (at least in the movie).

Should have told him "Look deep within YOUR self. Go seek out Miss Mofet, and old patient of mine M-O-F-E-T." Then spiderman the guy when he gets there.

You should correct him, I'm sure he'd have you over for dinner as a way of thanking you.

It bothers me that they substitute chianti in the movie when it's the more flavourful and alcoholic amarone in the book. My guess is that most moviegoers would have little idea what amarone was, even given the context.
