So, my wipers have about 4-5 inches of sway on the outside edge after a heavy snowfall

I popped off the wipers and readjusted, but now they don't go fully to the stop position.

Anybody experience something similar?

Reasons/Solutions?

If you can't readjust them to their original by reversing the process, you can pull off the entire mechanism and reinsert it on the "serrated" bolt they go on under the hood. Takes about 3 minutes per washer. If the issue is pressure, you may need to buy a new wiper.

Mine seem to get "glitchy" in the winter. As they are in notion, they will stutter sometimes (like half way through the stroke, jump back and inch and then keep going). They seem to start and stop in the right place though.

Well, I have taken off the wipers and readjusteds but to no avail. Oddly enough, when the windshield is wet enough and on high speed it seems to whip the wiper to the normal position. Sometimes when it comes back down though, it slams against the car to the rest position.

I'm wondering if the notches on the wipers themselves have worn to the point that they do not catch within a certain range, and therefore do not grip appropriately on the serrated bolt.

If this is the case, is the problem likely to be both wipers?

The best way to avoid wiper problems due to ice and snow is to cover the windshield, including the wipers. You may be able to find a cover at an auto supply store. Another alternative is to buy some cloth-backed plastic at a fabric store. Get a piece long enough to stretch across the windshield with a few extra inches on each side. Cut the top and bottom to fit the windshield as well as cover the wipers.
