I planned to buy a full set of OEM size snow tires this fall but I took a corner a little too wide last month and blew a tire. It wasn't worth replacing just one tire since they were pretty worn so I bought a new set of summer tires. The information I found in these forums helped me decide to go with the 235/50 ZR17 Avons. Now since I used up my tire money I need to consider some other options for this winter. I have a set of snows from my last car. I think the size is 225/60 R16 and the tread should last a few more winters. I was thinking about shopping for some cheaper (steel?) wheels to mount these on but I don't know if 16 inch rims will fit on my car. I have a 2004 AT Sedan. Has anyone tried this? I live in CT so I know we will get a few snow storms.

Thanks, are there any problems with the traction or stablity control with 16 inch wheels?

If you decide to get the 16" wheels, get a set of 225 / 60 / 16 or something, you'll need a high tire to compensate for the change in wheel diameter... otherwise you'll be slipping like crazzy

I don't think 16" rims will fit...17 is the smallest for the G35.

How do you people find these threads after 2 years? I don't think 16s fit. 17s with some winter tires should do, it won't be spectacular but then again you're driving a RWD sports car in the snow.
