has anyone driven their m35/45 sport in the snow yet. it snowed here in new york yesterday and i decided to take my m45 for a drive and it wasnt a pleasant experience lol. i was spinning my wheels like crazy on like 2 inches of snow and with traction control on its hopeless. it will only reduce the engines power and even if you floor it the wheels cant spin at all. with the traction control off you are only revving the hell outta your engine and going sideways. i nearly crashed into a parked car going sideways lol.heres a advice, if theres snow out there and you drive a m35/45 sport dont take it out. leave it and dont bother. i sure learned my lesson

I drive an M35x. With my ContiExtremeContacts and in "snow mode" she's a virtual snow machine. I did have a problem w/her low belly getting hung up on snow banks; even ripped off the plastic skid plate. So I put on a sheet metal plate-she just loves snow and I love driving her through same.

Sounds like you have summer tires on. Even with RWD you should have no problem to drive it in 2 inch snow.

I could be wrong but it sounds like summer tire to me.

Yeap that is your problem. You need really good all season tires at least. But I would go for winter tires. There is nothing wrong with your traction controll. It just does its job.

You have RWD car and no thread on your tires. Don't forget your only conection to the ground the tires. You can have the greatest system on the earth if you have no traction. To have traction you need good tires and apropiate to the weather. Summer tires have different compounds than winter tires. Summer tires are way to hard in winter.

Get a set of Blizzaks and you'll be surprised how well it goes.

Folks, in general, summer tires and snow do not do well together! This is particularly true for high-power RWD - and even AWD - cars, like ours. And regardless of whether the tread is low or not, since summer tires harden like rocks in cold weather and the flexing of the tread and sidewall does not occur.

If you live in snow country, then snow tires (ideally on cheap wheels - to avoid the twice-a-year remount problem ... the cost easily justifies the extra set of wheels) are pretty much mandatory!

With a snow tire package its great in snow and ice. The traction control is amazing and at almost 4000 lbs the car pushes through snow that stops smaller four wheel drives. Get a winter tire package, put an extra 100 pounds in the trunk if you have hills to deal with and you're good to go.

update: i finally got the car out after cooking the hell outta my brakes. i left traction on and it was basically braking the wheels thats spinning. after 5 minutes of trying all you see is smoke coming from the brakes and tires. i didnt want to leave traction control off cause i was scared of going sideways hitting the curb and scratching the rims lol. at least i got the car out and thats what counts.

off topic a little but the most fun i've ever had driving in snow was a Eagle Talon TSi AWD turbo. i swear we drove through unplowed 4 inches of powder like she was on rails. Damn that was a fun little car

well half fail, he will have trash traction for taking off, but stop wise it's not bad sticking it on the front, because the weight is transferred to front when braking.

He's not going to get to the braking part since he can't speed up.

Total failure.

I love that picture BTW.

Smart move not letting them push you with their car. I was stuck in the snow Friday when I went to drop off my daughter at school. I tried to shovel myself out and had the assistance of four other Parents and we couldnt get the car out. I finally resorted to letting one of the other dads push me with his Jeep. i ended up with a huge bubble in my bumper

I got my winter tires and wheels put on on Tuesday after having my car sit in the garage for several days since it would not go anywhere in the Minnesota snow.

In fact when I drove it into the tire shop a mile from my house, it took four grease monkeys to push my car up a very slight incline and into the shop.

I now have Blizzak LM-22's on MSW type 12 rims in 17 inch. The difference is night and day! I am now able to enjoy my car and navigate the snowy and ice packed roads. I do hate giving up the look of the 19 inch sport rims but nobody was enjoying them while they were in my garage anyway.

Nothing like positive proof!

This is exactly the right thing to do, folks. Having once lived in snow country for many years, (my house was at the top of a hill in Derry, New Hampshire), I can assure you that snow tires are mandatory on powerful RWD and AWD cars in such weather.
