As I stated before I am a new G35x owner. only having my car 3 weeks now but it amazing how well my 35 handles. I've had AWD cars before some with similar power (WRX, EVO) where I live is getting about a foot of snow right now just wondering how everyone likes there cars in the snow and have you had better snow performing cars?

My brand new Michelin Pilot AS3's got me home safe in this NJ snow storm
They did fail to get me up my unplowed driveway with 8 " of snow

My old 69 VW Beedle was better in the snow.

It's not so much the car as it is your tires. My 2011 G37s sedan with summer tires was undrivable in the snow. Switched to all seasons and no problem. Of course the final factor is your driving technique.

Continuing with the general consensus, it has more to do with tires.

In my second Minnesota winter with my RWD G35. The summer performance tires are literally useless in any snow. I have Winterforce tires on a second set of wheels and these have rarely had an issue. I made it through about 8 inches once, not that I would recommend doing it. In 1-2 inches of snow, driving is pretty reasonable. It probably goes without saying that the RWD has considerably more trouble moving from a dead stop than any AWD (with half-decent tires), but once you get it going, pretty solid.

There is a large parking lot about 3 miles from my home, I try to get out there and spend about 15 minutes going sideways whenever there is a good snow.

As far as a direct comparison to your other cars, I've never driven a WRX (someday!), but I have an old Legacy which takes anything like a champ. I imagine the G35x will have little to no trouble as well.

Enjoy the winter!

Biggest thing is tires, then a LSD really helps. AWD can suck it, as far as im concerned if it's that deep that you need AWD you probably should be in a truck (or something with more ground clearance) or you shouldn't be out.

I have some winter tires on my G35 (not sure what they are they came with the car), but it does really well in the snow. I'm used to driving RWD without traction control, and the traction control works really well.

Conti DWS did good in medium snow with my RWD until I was on ice/big hills. No issues with the AWD.

I have a g37X. It's absolutely amazing in snow. (Michelin Pilot AS sports)These cars are back wheel dominant, FW on demand. Like a german half trac in the snow.

But on ice, 1 big issue. There's something about how the computer fires in between the back wheels and front at slow speeds, and at a stop. The cars will actually shake off the road. If you find this happening, shift into neutral. and the problem goes away

Yeah, they tend to start crabbing I hear. You can try turning off TCS if it starts to happen but at worse case just turn off the car until it's time to move again.

I live in Minnesota and currently own four 4 wheel drive vehicles. Our G35X with snows on all our corners is the best handling car of them all. We just picked up a low mileage 2013 G37X that has all-season tires.

The G37x is okay in the snow but the G35X continues to amaze! If anyone knows of a good deal on four 17" OEM wheels that fit the 37X let me know please, I gotta get some snows!

Have a great weekend everyone!

I've got a 2008 X and use Michelin X-Ice during the winter months. Unstoppable!
