I have been on this site for a couple of months now and I am surprised at the number of R-50's on here lifted w/ mods to all kinds of stuff but I am the only one that I have seen with a snorkel.

f***INUPAGAIN you out there I know you flooded an engine like me are you as surprised as me or am I. I mean it didn't take much did it. When i flooded mine the mud pit was only about as deep as the bottom of my bumper. If any 4x4 needed a snorkel it's an R-50. Now I have no fear at all.

my buddy calls it the snake mobile LOL

but I'm not in it for looks I'm in it for functionality. I have had full size suv's, jeeps, and a few toyota's and they all either had no power at all or no storage or they sucked the gas like a like a p0rn star on crack!!!!

Plus I like the lux inside and still be able to load all of your gear in the back and take your date on panty droping tour of trails and remote fishing. Kinda funny what elevation and alcohol will do for the ladies

I detail it about 4 times a year and it comes out looking bad a** so I don't know what your talking about it looking FUGLY

you must be exaggerating about the shallowness of that mud pit!

This is with a cold air intake installed:

Yeah a snorkel is on my list-of-sh*t-to-do-this-summer. I just need to either take a weekend & build it or save a bit & buy a Terrano snorkel & be done with it. My puddle was a bit deeper than I thought but I imagine eccessive speed contributed to my failure:

Nope no exaggeration here you know that thing that looks like tits on a cow w/little holes and one big one in the fender well of a stock R-50 that damn thing is why. The tits are designed to allow water and moisture to drip through the small pin holes at the bottom of the tits but, when the tire rips the inner plastic off on the trail and you don't notice like me you end up w/ mud and s*** in the tits and the even the smallest puddle with a little forward movement flinging mud and water off the tire can fill that b**** up real quick. It doesn't have to be that deep at all.

I didn't have a cold air intake on that day! I only had the truck for about a year or so before it swallowed a bunch of water!!!

Glad to see that you took that POS tit box off.Think about it a cold air kit is about $200.00 and a snorkel about $300.00 why not right!!

I was goin to build one but, at $300.00 + S/H you can't go wrong plus I have seen people who build their own they function, but when it rains or snows there is nothing stopping it from soakin your air filter and slowly fillin your air box. Buy one they are designed w/that problem in mind. Those damn Auzzies are pretty good at designing things that work and rarely ever have issues with any products.

kudos to the Auzzies

I can't remember exactly where I got it. When I bought it no one had a snorkel fitted for a R-50. So I begged ARB to build one didn't happen cuz there wasn't enough people w/ intrest in buying one. So I bought 1 and returned it about 3 times before i found this one. It fits really well, it comes with a cardboard stincil that you line up on your fender and mark out your centers w/ a C-Punch, drill 4 or 5 small holes for the studs. I highly recommend that you use an air saw to cut the big hole in the fender, inner fender, and air box. The snorkel will come w/some plumbing but your going to need some extras I guarntee it. All in all it didn't take very long about 4 hrs only cuz i was shootin from the hip.

I think that they make one specific for the R-50 now with everything you need except tools!! I would check out the ARB site, Rocky Road Outfitters, and a few other Auzzie sites. There are some other snorkels out there but they don't have the inginuity that ARB has and they look kinda funky too>!

If i get a chance I'll pull up the paperwork file on my rig I can give you a part # and where I got it from

I dig the functionallity of the snorkel. But I think I would be finding a way to remove it for daily driving. It kinda does look like the lockness monster lol

Have any pics of how it enters your car? engine bay pics i mean

My buddy in his jeep wanted to keep his snorkel concealed so he cut a whole in the firewall and ran the filter under the dash!!! I thought my CAI was loud, you can feel his sucking your leg hair haha

believe me when I say you won't go back it is a true ram/cold air induction and you will love the sound that it makes when you smash down the pedal. perfomance wise i was really surprised it felt way more responsive.

Ill take some Pics of under the hood after I get back from class

A snorkle makes the car pretty invincible, but if you were to ever sell your car to someone who has no idea about offroading, like a female, the snorkle would be a huge turn off, thus making it hard as hell to sell your car...and i would sooo have one if there was a way to take it off while not needing it....f*** it I'll probably end up buying one anyway.

In my experiences, females love long, phallic objects.

To whom it may concern!!!

I took some pics from under the hood you can slap me later for not keeping it clean. there is about 1 year of mud and s*** all over under the hood!!

Here it is:Its not the prettiest off installs but it functions the way it should water proofed.

I think that your pathy would look wicked sick w/ the lockness monster on there!! what to do if you want to take it off well I permanately assembled mine but you could buy a fender cut the holes in it install it on the fender and swap it back and forth w/ a quick disconnect there you go.

Or do what i did install it use it and when and if you sell buy a cheap a** fender slap that b**** on. the new buyer would never know

I know some down females that love my truck and know exactly what the lockness is and then there are some that are like

I drove the rest of the trails at URE & then drove another week & a half before my engione sh*t-the-bed.

And Brodie, I don't plan on ever selling my R50 (it will eventually become my dedicated trail rig). I've already f*cked up enough stuff that I couldn't get but maybe $2500-3000 if I tried to sell it.

ARB's snorkel is actually Safari Snorkel which is an independent company but they are sold exclusively through ARB & ARB retailers.

That being said the Nissan Terrano 2.7TD snorkel is the one you one - most American/Canadian sites use this one as the Frontier's snorkel but Safari/ARB doesn'r actually make one for a Frontier (I think only TJM makes a snorkel specifically for the Frontier) its the Terrrano snorkel. Alos an Xterra Safari/ARB snorkel will work.

As for homemade snorkels you can buy the top piece (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...%3AIT) and then you don't have to worry about rain getting in there any more than with a Safari/ARB/TJM snorkel & have all of like $65 invested.
