Hi all! Having a problem starting my red top. When the motor is cold I have to remove the intake filter and suffocate the MAFS for the engine to kick over, and when it does, quickly put the filter back on. After running for a few minutes i can turn the motor off, then just turn the key for it to start back up with no problem. It runs very well at all rpm's. I was thinking mafs problem but when the motor is running it's completely smooth. Now I'm thinking vacuum? maybe? help is appreciated!

Welcome Noobie!

I believe the problem is a vac leak. Check every hose connection. Also, clean your filter and maf. Clean the maf w/ mass air flow sensor cleaner, such as CRC. You can get it @ AutoZone.G/L

Btw, got pics?

Cool, looks like fun. The body looks excellent.Just make sure you tuck and hide wiring and hoses so that enginebay doesn't look like a nest.G/L

haha looks like a nest! I'll tuck and hide everything... The body is mint... now... If you notice the rocker panel primed, i cut out some rust and welded in a new piece, and the suspension tower. Other than that. not even a ding! took the car off the road in 2003 with 78k. I grabbed crc cleaner and reconnected all vacuum lines, hopefully it will start right up!
