Might be a while... still waiting for the enamel to come via Fedex

Not really... Took me about 20 - 30 minates with a 40 grit straight roll to get results like this on the cool side of the motor. After first pass getting the major areas, so I can come back to get the minor details.

Windage tray? whats that?

Actually I have it preped to be clean out...I decided to work outside first.

Hey Rare_f8, sorry to change the subject but I see you're from Omaha. Do you know anybody with a RB25 block in the Omaha / Lincoln area? I broke a piston and it shredded the block. I need to find one asap.

I would say you pretty much have to clean the block somehow..or the grime will clutter the sand bits rendering them useless.

I did choose hot tanking. To clean out the exterior, the interior was surprisingly clean anyways.

Before shot hot tanked.

It's amazing that this block weights less than my 1.9L Beater block.

As for enamel... a magician never reveals his tricks... Well for the most part.. I will reveal it when I am done rattling..

Well, as I learned here a while ago.. never underestimate what some people will do.. (like not tanking your block before painting it..) I was just checking

Agreed, your block was not in too bad of shape! Just some light rust. bores look pretty clean.

Actually they were pretty dirty in that pic.. it was taken right after picking it up from the shop. After a little wiping and lubing oil, it has a mirror finish like it had when I cracked her open.

I finally got both sides done. So I decided to enamel them, I even add a little final touches...

Type of Enamel I used

After 3 coats

Final Touches

I still have front and back to grind down and enamel.. then it'll be time to debur the inners.

So there's your progress photos coolwhip..
