I noticed this with my last car, and the Versa seems to be the same. After a long road trip my engine seems to idle more quietly and, in general, perform better. Has anyone else noticed this?

For example, I just drove from Vegas to Tuscon and back (for that shameful U of O loss... boooo! ) and now the car is quieter than when it was new. I have the 6-speed and so the drive involved extended periods of driving at near 4k RPMs. Any ideas as to why this would happen?

This would be a great supporting argument for anyone looking to commute over 500 miles to work (one-way).

ick, why would anyone want to do that? I was completely worthless tonight at work cause of the trip.

Maybe it is quieter, maybe it isn't. Sometimes we hear things that really aren't there or we want to believe that there is a change when there isn't.

Kind of like when someone says their car seems to go faster now because of this or that. It may not really be faster.

Nope, not me. I've never actually been to Spokane. Seattle a lot, but no Spokane. And I didn't buy mine from Planet, Douglas Nissan is the way to go. Oh, and my plates are still Oregon plates got to love the no sales tax.

my guess is your burning out all the excess carbon deposits made from city driving. Ive noticed this with all my cars after a long trip.
