Help me plz. I was driving out of a parking lot and all of a sudden a cloud of smoke same from my dash/steering wheel area. I turned the car off right away and pulled over but now my car won't start. (89' 240sx.) When I turn the key nothing happen's, the car won't turn over or even hesitate. IT's Just DEAD. I think it's probobly a couple wires that short circuited in my ignition somewhere but i'm just guessing. Plz help me.
Alright, I've narrowed it down to an electrical short i believe. There is a wire that was connected to my tape deck harness before the deck was taken out. The wire's were I believe touching some metal inside the car and shorted something out. 1 Wire is burned for the stereo and a bunch of fuses from the fuse box by the pedal's were burned. i replaced them all but the car still won't start. Is there something in the car that could be blown or screwed up. I need help.
make sure u tear apart the whole dash and check every wire and tape up anything thats frayed. then AFTER your sure u got all the busted wires replace the fuses and check for more signs of shorted wires under the hood. remember all it takes is one wire to be shorting and ur car will act like u dont even have a battery.
Yea thanks, I did take it apart and found the problem. The previous owner did his own stereo job and did it bad. There was a loose wire and it touched the metal frame while live and shorted the car. The problem is the audio fuse was bypassed and couldn't blow when overheated. I just gotta go threw out the wire harness's and find all the shot wire's. Wish me luck this could take a while.
