dont feel very safe running it cause i dont know what could happen.. any help would be appreciated
The most likely cause of low compression is worn/broken piston rings or blown headgasket, valve issues are unlikely unless the timing belt broke and you had valve collisions with the piston which generally immediately ruins the engine inrternals.Zdriver wrote:Yeah I think I might have a few bent valves so I'm gonna pull the heads and replace headgaskets cause I did a compression test and all the cylinders had really low compression what else could cause low compression?
Low compression normally relates to piston rings, and or cylinder walls... NO compression normally relates to valves.Zdriver wrote:Yeah I think I might have a few bent valves so I'm gonna pull the heads and replace headgaskets cause I did a compression test and all the cylinders had really low compression what else could cause low compression?
+1 You really need to find a mechanic in your area that can at least be a watchful eye over your shoulder.DCaff300ZX wrote:The most likely cause of low compression is worn/broken piston rings or blown headgasket, valve issues are unlikely unless the timing belt broke and you had valve collisions with the piston which generally immediately ruins the engine inrternals.Zdriver wrote:Yeah I think I might have a few bent valves so I'm gonna pull the heads and replace headgaskets cause I did a compression test and all the cylinders had really low compression what else could cause low compression?
If you are not aware of these possibilities and how the VG engine works in general, and specifically how compression is achieved, I would find a good Nissan mechanic to help you out or in the least teach you the in's and out's of your Nissan engine.
