hey guys i just got my engine put back in my 300z and it seems to start up and run fine for about a min and i noticed smoke coming from behind the powersteering pump kind of down by my headers and i dont what it could be i looked at the powersteering reservoir and the fluid had fizz floating on top could it be the pump going bad? or could it be old fluid burning off something? kind of worried about it.
dont feel very safe running it cause i dont know what could happen.. any help would be appreciated :) and if the timing was off would it even start up and run?

I would check the inlet tube to the res for cracks as with the fizz it seems that air is getting in there, or maybe from the lines from your steering rack- maybe some damage from the engine pull? Also a leak at the res would let fluid leak onto your ps header.

res? im not exactly sure what that is lol also i did a compression test and 2 cylinders didnt register, 2 cylinders were at 45psi and the last 2 were at 65 psi is this a bad head gaskets or could this be rings?

Sorry, the fluid reservoir...although from your later posts it looks like your problems may be elsewhere.

Yeah I think I might have a few bent valves so I'm gonna pull the heads and replace headgaskets cause I did a compression test and all the cylinders had really low compression what else could cause low compression?

The most likely cause of low compression is worn/broken piston rings or blown headgasket, valve issues are unlikely unless the timing belt broke and you had valve collisions with the piston which generally immediately ruins the engine inrternals.
If you are not aware of these possibilities and how the VG engine works in general, and specifically how compression is achieved, I would find a good Nissan mechanic to help you out or in the least teach you the in's and out's of your Nissan engine.

Low compression normally relates to piston rings, and or cylinder walls... NO compression normally relates to valves.

+1 You really need to find a mechanic in your area that can at least be a watchful eye over your shoulder.
