Ok so i just got my new 240 and i decided to do the whole seafoam thing to restore my engine and maybe get a little power back. So i poured half bottle in the oil, half bottle through the break booster line, and a whole bottle in the gas tank which was about half way full. I changed my oil after i drove around for about 5-10 miles. So now it has been about 1000 miles and my car will let out a good size puff of blue tinted smoke when i sit at a red light. At first i thought that maybe some seafoam with still burning off in the cats but could it takes this long to burn off? Did the seafoam fubar my engine. Also i changed the oil with 10w-30. Could that be too light weight and causing me to burn oil? Would using thicker weight oil or some additive solve the problem? The engine sounds healthy and pulls pretty good.

it is a puff of blue tinted smoke. Only happens when i sit at a stop light for a while and then blip the throttle to get going again. Also there is no smoke if i get on it to redline. Only happens when i let the car idle for a minute or so. Also car has only 140k and was just recently converted to manual so the engine should be relativly healthy.

so could the seafoam done this? Maybe dislodge some carbon or something that was keeping the seal good. Then the seafoam washed it away and i have a leak. Any recommendations on how to put a bandaid on this? Like maybe thicker oil or try and use some miracle engine restoring product?

Put some lucas motor oil in your car. Real thick stuff. I use a qt on every oil change. Had a geo tracker as a farm vehicle. Sounded like the engine was abotu to blow, smoking was pouring out the exhaust. Put lucas in it. Think stop smoking after 15 seconds and was quieter as well. After adding half quart here and there over a week period. It stopped burning oil completely. Lasted for 8 months until a radiator leak killed it from overheating.Tracker had 130k miles on it

ok ill try that on my next oil change. You sub in one quart of lucas for 1 qt. of 10w-30 when your changing your oil correct? Wouldn't such a thick oil hurt performance and fuel economy?

i'm not sure why it's smoking but maybe it could be the amount of seafoam you used? when I seafoamed my car i only used a third of a bottle in the crankcase, a third through the brake booster and a third in my tank. my car stopped smoking after 20 minutes.

Something I didn't see mentioned...

When you ran it through the brake booster, did you remember to change your o2 sensor?

yes I held off on changing the o2 sensor and spark plugs up untill maybe a week ago becouse i didn't want them to foul out do to the smoking. However the smoking never stopped so i said **** it and put them in anyway. Oh ya i changed my fuel filter as well at this time.

it says to use 1/3 the bottle in each ... not a full bottle or 1/2...

btw, i've never changed my spark plugs, or o2 sensor after running seafoam.. nothing has been affected, my gas milage stays the same, and everything is fine.

on my last 240 i ran a full bottle in each place with no i'll affects thats why i figured it would be ok to step down to half a bottle for the crank and intake and a full bottle for the fuel system to stop those pesky injectors from clogging.

I was looking through my old posts seeing if there were any updates to them and i have all but forgotten abut this post. The reason being is that a few days after my last post all the smoking cleared up. I can now let it idle for 20 minutes come back and rev it an get not even a little smoke. What also should have told me something was the whole time my valve stem seals where "leaking" i never lost any oil from the pan. So ya im happy now that my motor is healthy again.
