I guess its better if you are looking for a permanant mod... rather than one you can take off and put on yourself if needbe...

I know what your friend is talking about. They make various spray paints that are see through when light is applied. One of them is called VHT nightshades. This is what I used on my headlights!

In any case, this stuff is easily removable and will not permanently damage your taillights. I must say, please be sure to remove the tailights from your car if you decide to use the VHT niteshades!

Niteshades is easy to use. Its just irreversible. Could be wrong though, Rob just pointed out that its removable. I didn't think it was.

I've heard of issues with fading in the sunny climates.

Dan, one of our moderators did a nice write up on using this stuff....

Actually, if you want the double layer its only $65 as the second set is just 25 bucks not 40. Highly worth it.

Tyler you're absolutely correct. If you follow the prep steps that that author did, then it's permanent because the grinding of the taillight allows the niteshades to bond stronger. But if you don't use that method and simply spray on one layer at a time, you still get a nice result, but paint thinner will remove it.

But if done correctly, you're right its ireversible!

After looking thru many pictures, it seems as if the Batmobile's are more of a flat look, and with doing this process (although irreversable) will really make it look like a body panel. I have a black car and i would be looking for the "sleeper" look out of the mod... I have a friend whose biz is making custom sneakers and im going to see if he will help me with the job... Dr.. Did you go thru the sanding and all with your headlight? If not, what does the finish look like? Will i get the mirror shine from the DIY without having to sand?

another option is you can take it to a paint shop and have them smoke/clear the lenses. basically, it's clear coat with a little black paint mixed in. pic shown is with 3 coats only, if you want darker, more coats.

LBC, I bought the overlays from BAT for my taillights and had his installer do them for me. I really like the overlays.

As far as the front, I like the way it looks, but because I did not grind the hell out of my $1000 headlights, it may begin to come off one day. If it does, I'm eiether gonna get the overlays from BAT with the low beam cut out, or I'm gonna send my headlights to KPSOLJA and get him to spray the inside like he did his. Or hell, I may just try that mod myself. If I jack them up, I'll probably just... wait can't say that over the internet, nevermind!

Been gone for a while Rob: have you posted pics of your overlays? I'd like to see them on a Radiant Silver.
