Hey guys, I've run into a little problem where if I sit at idle for a little while, rpms will drop to 800rpm or so and the car will run very rough and then plumes of smoke will start coming out of the tailpipe(not HUGE clouds, but enough to make a cloud of smoke for everybody around to wonder if they're safe around my car). There IS a blue tinge to it and I'm slowly losing oil. Coolant seems to be fine though.
This started happening after I overheated the engine(long story short, I'm a dumbass and it's my own fault). However, I did a compression check this morning and I'm getting about 145/150 across the board(each cylinder tested 3 times under the same conditions). yes, seems low, but the good news to that is that's basically the same compression i had when i first installed the engine in the spring/before the overheat.
So, am I right in assuming that my head is NOT warped and at least I can sleep at night knowing I don't have to worry about that being my problem anymore?
I think it may be a problem with the turbo. Since before the overheat, it was unusually loud and I was having problems maintaining boost in the lower gears. Now, it's even louder, there's a definite powerloss compared to before, and I'm still unable to maintain boost in the lower gears.
I read in another thread that was posted in the last few months who had similar smoke problems and Dee suggested it was the turbo. I have yet to check the intake system yet for blow-by, but if I am getting lots of oil in there, would that be a very good indication?
Thoughts, Opinions....help?
