well i heard it could be a piston ring. I hope not. or the oil seals.idk but why does it do this. and could this damage my motor?

I take it that it's blowen' smoke out the tail pipe. that's sounds like oil in your combustion chamber. So with that take your pick at what it could be. when you change your oil like dRiLstar said and try RESTOR. ( sorry I really suck with spelling) it comes in a aluminum can. good stuff

if its burning oil, like theres smoke coming out of the exhaust, then there are three most likly cause is that the valve guide are worn, piston rings are leaking, or head gasket is bad. any one of these will result in motor work. the cause of this is USE. if the car is high mileage, any car will do this. every car does ( thats why oil gets dirty) even if its new it burns a little oil. but the older the car the more it will do it.

i have a sohc with like alot of miles on it.. 167k and if u really beat on ur car i'd say put heavy oil like i did.. i put 20w 50 and about half of a quart of LUCAS wich help's to stop leaks and stuff.. it could be ur rings.. but try that first.. i thought mine was fcked but it was running rich.. gl

You can drive it for sure. Just keep an eye on your pressure light and check your oil level every morning before you start it.

restore it a good additive to use. It coats your cylinder walls and will raise and level out the compression throughout the cylinders. Also, you could add a stop leak to the oil next time you change it. Make sure it doesn't contain any metalic substances as they can clog oil passages. The stop leak really just swells up the rubber seals in the engine a little so they seal a bit tighter. (i.e. your valve stem seals). Please don't use a heavy oil like dRiLstar said. You can add in some lucas but please don't use a 20w50 oil. It's too thick for the tight tolerances in our motors.

nope. both my Ka's are over 200k. SOHC 209k, DOHC 225k. both run gr8. mileag has nothen to do with anything. It's all in how a car is babyed. It's like a woman .... take care of it, give it what it need's, and you'll go far with it not high mile's
