i have an 89 sohc 240sx. i just replaced the injectors cuz ive been driving it with 3 cylinders for the past 2 months. it drove like crap and shaked like crazy and made me wanna throw up. i just got new ones today from a guy at a local shop, four of them still in the rail (only a few months old) for $75. i decided, hell, might as well change all 4. so thats what i did. after i replaced them, i started the car, and BAM!!, white smoke comes out of my exhaust and some in my engine bay. it looks to be coming out of the hose that connects to the PCV valve and other areas i cant locate. it smells like unburnt fuel, and it still shakes like im running on 3 cylinders. i tried pulling the connectors off the injectors while the engine is running to see if it makes a difference, and it died when i pulled it off 3 of them. but when i pulled it off the 3rd injector (the one that needed replacing), it doesnt make a difference at all. im guessing its cuz one of my injectors isnt working still (but why? i just replaced all of them) and that im not burning enough fuel, so its making white smoke all over the place. i thought it was the head gasket, but my coolant in the reservoir wasnt boiling or even hot. it was just warm like how it should be. and plus, if it was my head gasket, wouldnt the engine overheat after like 5 minutes? i drove it up and down the street to see how it would run, same ol same ol (still shakes, still no power), and i felt like i was driving a damn rocket (50 ft of white smoke behind me). i didnt replace the o-rings when i installed them cuz they looked fine, so could that be the problem? could it be causing one of the injectors not function correctly? or could it be that one of them is clogged and not spitting out enough fuel to drive the cylinder, so its not burning enough fuel? or could it also be the spark plugs? not making spark to burn off enough fuel so the fuel is just sitting there? i thought it was cuz the connector on the injector was bad, but i plugged it into the old rail that i removed when my engine was running, and it seemed to spit out fuel just fine. i dont know what the problem could be. could unburnt fuel be causing that much smoke to be coming out of the exhaust AND engine bay? plus, i thought unburnt fuel smoke was black? what do u guys thinkg could be wrong? please help!! thanks alot!!

Same exact thing happened to me except I have a KA24DE, Ill search for my post and that has everything you need to know in it.

*edit* well I found my post but its a lot of stuff and kind of confusing, so Ill just tell you what happened.

When you replaced your injectors, gas got down into you cylinders and ate the oil seal around your piston rings.

this is a decently easy fix

1. Buy new oil, filter, some sort of hand pump that can reach down into your cylinders through the spark plug holes, and the smallest size of Marvel mystery oil (you can get this at any auto parts store).2. Drain all your oil, most likely will have lots of gas in your oil.3. Pull your plugs and put the pump down in there and pump any gas/oil mix out of your cylinders (you may not have any, I didn't but better safe than sorry)4. Poor some marvel mystery oil down into each cylinder through the plug holes (not too much not too little use your descretion)5. Replace plugs6. Put in the new oil7. Add some of whats left of the Marvel Mystery Oil into your engine8. Then the rest of the Mystery Oil into your gas.9. Fire it up (it will still smoke but it should run smooth)10. Take it out on the express way and blow out the rest of the access oil thats in your cylinders. (so if you think you added too much mystery oil to your cylinders, as long as you don't flood it, this should burn the access out)11. Once it stops smoking pull into your drive way and give your car a hug.

hope that helps if you have any questions feel free to email me @ [email protected]

This happened to me and this fixed my problem and I haven't had any smoking since.

yea i was kinda hoping its that. i pray to god its not a blown head gasket. i was actually gonna do an engine flush after i fix the injector problem, so would just a normal flush clean out all the gas in my oil?

im gonna tkae it to my friends house later and do a compression check. please dont let it be a head gasket. ill post updates up later. thanks ALOT for all the info!!

well i did wat most of u guys told me to do. i flushed the engine and then sprayed mystery oil down the spark plug holes. i then filled up with new oil and put some of the mystery oil into the engine and some in the gas tank, and took it for a test drive. i drove it for about 10 minutes till i thought there was no more smoke coming out. while doing so the car behind me honked at me, and i realized i was only doing 35 on a 45 mile road. so then i revved it a little trying to go faster, when all of a sudden i hear a zapping/hissing sound, almost like a compressed space letting out air in a violent way otherwise it would blow up. after that sound my car started smoking again!! not thru the exhaust, but out of the engine bay. i was scared and drove home, opened up the hood, and the smoke seemed to be coming out of the headers. there was no more smoke coming out of the exhaust, but more in the engine bay. do u know what this could mean? i seriously hope its not any internals. please help!! thanks!
