So this morning I drove my car to work because Im going to be replacing a rear main seal after work today. I ran my valve cover breathers to a new catch can, and I had forgotten to unscrew the vent cap ontop of the catch.

It smoked so bad, you could not see the road behind me....it was ridiculous. I quickly pulled over and vented the catch can, and the smoke obviously cleared up.

My question is, where was the oil entering my exhaust system? Is it possible it was getting sucked through the valve guides if my valvetrain was drowning in oil?

past valve guides down into the combustion chamber, or past piston rings up into the combustion chamber.......guess those would be my only two options.

edit: past turbo seals and into the hotpipe?

My intercooler was full of oil, awsome job Greg...***pats self on back***

But, my rear main isnt leaking which is good news. The leaky valve cover I have posted about in the past however, is still leaking. Im thinking that when they got cooked after powder-coat, maybe it warped. The intake isnt leaking however, but it doesnt sit angled like the exhaust side. **** this sucks.....anybody have extra valve covers they'll part with? Modified by ks13 at 4:37 PM 7/10/2007
