Smoked a Yellow Hummer without even trying ... I let him pass and I still win

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Oh Hahaha ... my "Smoked a Lexus" thread is still alive ... and the snobbish hobgobbler holier-than-thou crowd preaching me to drive 50 MPH on the highway is still at it with their antics. Jezz .. get a life bozos. I'm moving on to another story for you since my threads are so popular.

While cruising at 90 - 95 MPH on the freeway today, a Yellow Hummer H2 was suddenly on my tail .. I guess the big Hummer could not really pass since I was already at 90+ MPH. So he was just at my tail for about 20 miles .. matching my 90+ MPH speed. It was getting boring and I knew he was just going to tail me ... but an interesting thing really happened !!!

My VALENTINE 1 radar suddenly BEEP BEEP BEEP ... I looked at the radar and it was KA ... definitely a cop radar at 12' o'clock . ... I suddenly signaled to the right and breaked hard back to 65 MPH ... and in a few seconds, as the road swerved right I saw a glimpse of a cop car on the inner Left road shoulder.

The Yellow Hummer driver was so happy I went to the slower right lane and slammed on the breaks and he really went 90+ MPH on the left lane ... OH UH ... too late .... no radar detector for him ... COP CAR scanned his speed at 90 MPH+ as he was nearest the cop car on the left lane ... and I was trudging along at 65 MPH on the far right lane.

He thought he was passing the EX35 now and was happy to be ahead, but the cop car turned on the sirens and chase him ... he knew it .. he slammed the breaks and went to 55 MPH ... I went back to the left lane at 70 and saw him at the back being pulled over by the cop ... Poor Guy ... He was now at full stop with the police issuing a speeding ticket as I step on the gas .. and he disappeared on the horizon.

... Another win for the EX35 with the Valentine One ! I didn't even try to race this guy .. he was just tailing and matching my speed and he got issued a speeding ticket! Peace out.

Yep, I actually did let him pass ... and I still win and got ahead

yea the V1 is a good investment

to the OP: i dont get it....what did you expect? even with 392 HP, the H2 is HEAVY and takes 8 sec for 0-60...

regardless of that......am i getting old? i didnt know CUV racing was the new "IN" thing.

also am i missing something Rio? it looks like all your mods are cosmetic? why would yours be any faster than ayaps?

being new i'm not sure what the +2 tune is right now, but what type of tires you running now?(i see the size, what about brand/rating)

ur right, tires do make quite a bit of difference, but smoking him? i'd say more like a higher speed trap and maybe .5 sec difference down the 1/4 mile? which is actually a pretty big difference...so maybe you would "smoke" him

I actually just found out from G35 forum that +2 mods can be done if you have access to the computer in the car. it`s actually the same scanner they use to reset codes etc... Here is the good news.

You can actually advance the timing +2 or max of 17 degrees (total)If your baseline timing is around 14 degrees, you can set it to +3 as long as it ends up 17 degrees total. If baseline is 15 degrees (which is probably like ours) then +2 to end up 17 degrees. The good news is when you set it to the maximum allowable timing advance, the computer will save it to the memory, and will not reset it back to the old timing when you lose battery power or turn the car off. bec. it`s within the specs . If you try to advance it out of specs, the computer will not let it save- And that`s good!

The bad news is, you need to use premium unleaded all the time and probably lose 1-2 mpg.

thanks! very interesting. so everytime the battery is pulled or something tho, does it need to be reflashed via the Consult III?

hmm, so assuming Rio is running Z rated tires, haha or even drag radials, + this, that is actually quite a nice boost.

does this affect the AWD platform at all?

sorry to thread jack, tho the OP's topic was kinda horrible anyway

When you advanced the timing using the Consult III, iF it accepted the changes, then it`s already saved it to the ECu (even if you pulled the battery out.) The COMPUTER module will not save any timing changes if it`s beyond the manuf. spec. (to prevent damage to the engine) specially when people doing this mods and use 87 octane.

that is very interesting. so it kinda hard sets into the ECU? if im reading this correctly?

most certainly is the best bang for the buck then

odd thing is, who buys an EX35 and gasses anything under 91oct? I use BP and always used 93, is the EX rated for lower octane fuel?

if it is, can tack that to reason 8239183210 why this is so much better than Acura then! ugh, can't believe i chose the 3G TL instead of a G35 years ago

I used to be a HONDA guy but after driving a VQ engine, i`M sold!Where can you find a japanese car in this price range with 2 intakes?I guess only from Nissan/Infiniti. The top end power on the VQ is a lot better than HONDAS....or TL

Hey, if the idiot in the Hummer wants to drive 90+ MPH, he BETTER have a Radar Detector. Otherwise he deserved what he got.

Hey, he can afford the gas, he can afford the ticket too right? HAHA

Try your dealer first. Make sure they won`t void any warranty if they ok`ed it...

Some dealers are ok doing a little timing advance without voiding your warranty. iF the ECU accepted it, then it`s within specs.
