well first, that tube should be hooked up to your intake, not just open. what kind of smell? are your timing chain guides still there?

Nissan stopped putting on the chain guides in late 96/ early 97 iirc.

You may have blown a head gasket or hurt the rings, check the oil for any signs of coolant and do a compression test.

In most engines the vacum from the intake track helps to seal the rings a little bit, and is designed to keep that stuff from getting into our air by burning it.

If it is blowing out hard you have most likely failed a set of rings or more than one set. Compression test your engine like advised above. If it passes do a hydrocarbon and pressure test on your cooling system to check for a blown head gasket but most likely is failed or failing rings.

Haha wow

Seriously this just happened to my ka-t this weekend at the last drift practice this year. I have it hooked up to a breather, not my intake, and I spun out in a turn 3rd gear and I just held the gas cuz I was trying to finish off these tires and its started to smoke.

Its the rings man, you could drive it like that but not for much longer.

Next year I'm rebuilding my engine and hooking a oil catch can up!
