Smoke coming out of air vents

This morning on my way to work, I turned on the fan (no A/C) and found white smoke coming out of the vent; but only the one that is located above the radio closest to the drivers side. Note that all vents were open at the time. It lasted for about 5 seconds with no smell. I use the A/C on a regular basis but rarely the fan that is used to pull air in from the outside. Could this just be a build up of dust or is this a serious problem? Has anyone experienced this before?

It sounds like you were seeing water vapor that looks like fog/cloud. They were just talking about this on the Car Talk podcast. If there was no smell it probably was just a lot of humidity that couldn't be eliminated by the AC so it came out like fog. If it doesn't smell and only happens during humid days, I wouldn't worry.

simonl, did you get this problem taken care of, or did it go away on it's own perhaps?

This problem went away. It has only happened once since owning the Rogue for 2+ years. I think it might have just been fog like the above poster said.

It's been relatively humid where I live recently but I haven't had the problem occur again.
