Ok heres a little bit of the car. Its a 96' S14 w/ RB20DET engine, RB25 Turbo, and RB26 cams and injectors. Also recently installed was a NIStune but hasnt been tuned yet. To the problem, when I start the car and then once its on I have smoke that comes from the steering column, I opened up the steering column and its coming from a brown wire the brown wire is connected to the connection that plugs together under the column. Ive been searching through wiring diagrams and the only thing I can think of is the o2 sensor. Ideas? and if it is the o2 sensor if I unplug it since I just picked up a wideband will I need to worry about this wire anymore since theres nothing going to it anymore if it is the wideband?

Tried uploading pics but for w/e reason its not showing them, but any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Where on the steering column is the brown wire? lower by the pedals or up by the wheel?

edit: oops just read through it again.. try following where it goes..like into the engine bay? maybe you have a frayed wire somewhere.

Do you think it could be the horn or the airbag? Look for a dead ground somewhere?

so the person who did the swap before i bought the car took and wired this brown wire and linked it to the smaller of the two all white wires on the cluster and then linked the blue HID wire in with it and only connected the wires together by some electrical tape so im hoping it was just melting the tape and making the smoke. I will keep ya'll posted!
