I have a 1989 Nissan 240SX Fastback. The car runs good and everything but smoke comes out from engine (head of engine and headers) when i park it or is turned off is this a serious problem or can it be fixed eaisly? My car has 128,xxx miles on it the lowest i have seen for my year 240 anywhere, is it a sign that the engine is almost done. Plz help save my 240!

Weclome to NICO!

You are probably experiencing a valve cover leak.. Should be simple to fix...

I agree with the oil leak theory. When you're parked, the oil leaks down over your engine and headers. Shortly after starting the engine, the temperature reaches a point where the oil burns off and smokes. A similar thing will happen in certain vehicles following an oil change. Depending on the location of the oil filter, removing it sometimes causes oil to be spilt onto part that will later heat up and burn the oil off. In your case, more oil is deposited every time the vehicle is at rest.

So yes, check your valve cover gaskets - that's certainly a logical (and simple) place to start.
