Smoke and replacing valve seals

Good Morning everyone. Have a '09 Rogue that is smoking at startup and every once in a while while driving. Some times not even when I drive, just at start up. I have replaced the PCV valve and it did not fix it. Put in a heavier weight oil, per my "mechanic's" suggestion. Nope. So now I am leaning towards the valve seals. Everything and everyone I have talked to says that is probably my culprit.

The question I have is, how much would something like that cost? I am not even sure where to take it because have now had 2 bad experiences with mechanics. But I know a dealer will just rape me. If anyone has had them replaced, can you give me a "ball park" figure on how much? Heck the seals themselves are like 3 bucks apiece. Thanks in advance gang!

probably around a $1000 if its done right. i would continue to drive it until its really bad. then trade the car in, and dont tell them squat. LOL
